Flaming Lips Plea: Where Was Guitarist’s Teen Daughter Charlotte Drozd Last Seen?

The renowned band The Flaming Lips recently reached out via social media, asking fans for assistance in locating their drummer Steven Drozd’s 16-year-old daughter, Charlotte, also known as Bowie. She was reported missing on Saturday, October 5, around 11:30 AM. The Seattle Police Department has classified her as a missing or runaway juvenile. Coincidentally, the band had performed in Seattle just a day prior to her disappearance during their tour with the alternative rock group Weezer.

According to the Seattle Police Department, Charlotte Drozd was last observed near the iconic Space Needle in Seattle, Washington, specifically while on the monorail in that vicinity.

The authorities describe her as being approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing about 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing khaki shorts and pink footwear.

A detective from the Missing Persons Unit has been assigned to delve into the matter of her unexpected disappearance.

The Flaming Lips’ Instagram Announcement on Charlotte Drozd’s Disappearance in Seattle

This iconic rock band took to their Instagram platform to share a missing persons poster with their 19,600 followers. The Flaming Lips included this message in their post:

“URGENT!!! We need your help!!! Steven’s daughter, who is 16, is currently missing!!! She was last seen at the Space Needle early Saturday….I will provide further details as they become available.”

They also included various hashtags in their post, such as BringBowieHome, flaminglips, theflaminglips, missingperson, missingpersonseattle, missinginseattle, and missingchild.

Following this post, Steven Drozd expressed his gratitude in the comments section to Wayne Coyne, the band’s frontman, stating:

“Thank you for sharing, Wayne. We are at a loss as to what to do next.”

The Flaming Lips formed in 1983 in Oklahoma City and are celebrated for their unique sound that blends elements of psychedelic rock, experimental music, and pop. Their well-known albums include *Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots* and *The Soft Bulletin*, among others.

Steven Drozd has been a part of the band since 1991, contributing not only as a drummer but also as a songwriter and producer for many of their tracks. Alongside him are band members Wayne Coyne and bassist Michael Ivins.

The Flaming Lips have received numerous accolades throughout their career, including three Grammy Awards from eight nominations.

On February 26, 2021, Steven Drozd took to Instagram to celebrate Charlotte’s birthday, sharing a heartwarming photo with the caption:

“My precious wild Lottie bird is 13 today!!! Love you, Charlotte Michelle.”

As the search for Charlotte continues, it was also reported that The Flaming Lips’ collaborator Nell Smith tragically passed away at the age of 17 on October 5 due to a car accident.
