“F**king wild!” – Joe Rogan reacts to Robert Whittaker vs. Khamzat Chimaev being announced at UFC Saudi Arabia
Robert Whittaker is set to face off against Khamzat Chimaev in the main event of UFC Saudi Arabia, once again entering the fray.
The promotion has just revealed the fight, along with several others, that will be held in the Middle East on June 22. UFC CEO Dana White has confirmed that the middleweight match will serve as a title eliminator.
Chimaev’s recent fight at UFC 294 against Kamaru Usman at 185 pounds was not well-received by fans. Usman stepped in on short notice after Paulo Costa pulled out, and there were doubts that Chimaev would have emerged victorious had it been a five-round match.
During a recent podcast episode with Joey Diaz, longtime commentator for the promotion Joe Rogan shared his thoughts on the UFC Saudi Arabia headliner. Rogan stated:
“Whittaker vs. Khamzat Chimaev in Saudi Arabia. That one is gonna be f**king wild! That’s a wild one. That’s a wild fight.”
He went on to say:
“Whittaker vs. Khamzat is legit. That’s a real fight., that’s a real fight for Khamzat. Because Whittaker is a big dude. Solid, beefy 185 [pounds]. Former champion… That’s a real 185er. As opposed to [when] they gave him Kamaru Usman, and Kamaru didn’t have a chance to prepare for that. He had ten days.”
