Clarification on Office 2024 Licensing Confusion
In addition to the aforementioned issue, Microsoft has addressed another glitch pertaining to Microsoft Accounts (MSA). This bug misidentifies the Office 2024 application as an earlier version, like Office 2021 or Office 2019, when a user holds licenses for both. Simply reinstalling Office 2024 does not resolve the confusion, which could potentially alarm users who have recently upgraded to the newest iteration of Office.
Understanding the Bug
While this issue is not harmful, the miscommunication regarding the version can understandably lead to user anxiety. Microsoft has explained the nature of the problem and has highlighted the resolution pathway. Based on their information, it seems that rectifying the situation involves a straightforward update to the application.
ISSUE
When a Microsoft Account (MSA) contains licenses for both Office 2024 and a previous version (like Office 2021), the newly installed Office 2024 may still display the older version in its backstage view.
STATUS: FIXED
To resolve this issue, users are advised to install the latest update for Office 2024.
