Situated within the Veil of the Forsaken—the concluding area of Mariana’s Veil—players must first conquer a Chess Board puzzle and take on the formidable Scylla Boss known as Hydra. The Scylla Boss encounter is no small feat in Fisch. This colossal creature, featuring four heads, presents an unprecedented challenge. Throughout the battle, players must dodge fireballs emitted from each head while simultaneously collecting crossbow components located around the arena. To secure victory, you must assemble the crossbow within a strict 10-minute time limit, but initially, unlocking the boss fight through the Chess Board puzzle is imperative.

Solving the Chess Board Puzzle in Fisch

The Chess Board puzzle can be found on the opposite side of the Calm Zone Giant Door. To gain access, participants must drop the Magma Leviathan, Frozen Leviathan, and Crowned Anglerfish onto the correct podiums. Once the gate opens, proceed south across the Rainbow River to the puzzle’s location. This riddle involves four chess pieces that represent the heads of Hydra. To successfully complete the Chess Board puzzle in Fisch, you must move each chess piece straight until they all turn green, triggering the opening of a trapdoor. Be mindful: initiating the first piece will activate a one-minute timer. You must position all the pieces correctly before the time expires, or the puzzle will reset. Note that some pieces might require multiple pushes to glow green.

Strategies for Defeating the Scylla Boss in Fisch

Once the trapdoor is activated, jump in and prepare for your turn against the Scylla Boss, Hydra. As the timer concludes, a cutscene will reveal your character entering the Forsaken Gate, where Hydra awaits with a fearsome roar from all four heads. To conquer the Scylla Boss, navigate the map and collect three Ancient Weapon Parts (press the E key near each part), then place them onto the crossbow frame to complete the fight.

The locations of all three Crossbow parts are as follows:

Ancient Weapon Parts

Location

Bow

Northeast

Arrow

Northwest

Base

West

After acquiring all three pieces, head north to the Crossbow Construction area and arrange them by pressing the E key or interaction button. To help you succeed in the Scylla Boss fight, consider these valuable tips:

  • Equip an Advanced Glider. This is crucial for navigating areas without bridges; you can find one in the Glacial Grotto.
  • The crossbow parts emit a white glow, making them visible from a distance.Follow these markers to locate them quickly.
  • Falling into Scylla Pond will result in death, forced respawn at the chessboard puzzle, and loss of any collected weapon parts. Therefore, exercise caution while jumping.
  • Each location is equipped with stairs leading to the crossbow parts, providing an advantage to avoid Hydra’s attacks—use them wherever possible.
  • Once collected, place the crossbow parts in the bottom hotbar slots for swift assembly instead of sifting through your inventory.
  • If playing cooperatively, divide and conquer by assigning specific players to gather different parts, expediting the fight.

After finalizing the crossbow, a cutscene depicting Hydra’s defeat will play. Subsequently, players will gain access to Scylla Pond, where they can embark on the quest to capture this legendary sea monster.
