In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you are tasked with locating Shotei, the elusive patriarch of the Koga clan, following a tense duel on Seta Bridge with the infamous Naginata of the Shinbakufu. As you embark on this mission, navigating the expansive open world can be challenging, especially with the temptation of fast travel options that may lead you astray. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to effectively track down Shotei and provide him with the assistance he desperately needs.
Locating Shotei in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Your search begins with the understanding that Shotei has fled to the east from Seta Bridge, most likely heading towards The Shimmering Fields in Omi, and he traveled on foot. To maximize your chances of success, it’s crucial to embrace the journey instead of opting for fast travel. Start by following the road eastward from the bridge.

As you make your way down the path, keep an eye out for a peasant on your left lamenting the loss of his prized radishes. Engaging with him will yield valuable information about an old bald man who dashed past, knocking over his cart—this could be the lead you need.
Continuing along the road, you’ll overhear villagers discussing sightings of strange lights emanating from the old, abandoned Koga buildings located in the mountains. This conversation serves as another important clue pointing you toward your goal.

Further down the path, you may notice children playacting as shinobi, suggesting that their training grounds are in close proximity. Head towards the torii gate ahead, then follow the mountain trail until you reach your target.

If you find yourself disoriented, remember that Shotei can be found in the large central house of Koga Village, as indicated on the map. Upon your arrival, you’ll discover Shotei indulging in sake in the grand home just below the viewpoint.
Be prepared to defend him against his attackers. After fending them off, ask Shotei for assistance against the Shinbakufu. After some stern words from him, he reveals crucial information about his daughter, Katsuhime, who has been scouting the castle you aim to infiltrate.
Your next destination is Mount Hiei, located to the northwest, with the Enryakuji Temple situated at the bottom left corner of the area leading to Kyoto. Upon arrival, prepare for peril as hostile shinobi lie in wait. Ascend to the top of the hill where the tallest pagoda is located, and defeat the aggressive foes with the help of Katsuhime’s teppo.
After the battle, she will contemplate your request and your objective will shift to rendezvousing with Shotei at a tower that overlooks Sakamoto.
The lookout is positioned west of the city, right on the edge of the farmlands outside the main gates.
