Final Update for Halo: Infinite and Future Halo Projects
Halo fans, it’s official: after next week’s release, Halo: Infinite will receive its final update as the development team at Halo Studios pivots to new endeavors. The upcoming focus will be on Halo: Campaign Evolved, an ambitious remake of the original 2001 game’s campaign, which is set to launch next year utilizing the cutting-edge Unreal Engine 5. Excitingly, multiple Halo projects are reportedly in the pipeline, with whispers suggesting remakes of the second and third campaigns alongside the next mainline game.
Operation: Infinite Set for November 18
The last significant update, labeled Operation: Infinite, is scheduled to roll out on November 18. Major enhancements include a twofold increase in earning rates for Career Ranks and Spartan Points (SP) across all matchmaking playlists. This change aims to facilitate players in reaching the max level and unlocking the highly sought-after Mark VI armor kit, famously worn by Master Chief in the campaign.
New Features and Customizations
In a bid to enhance gameplay, the update will introduce both a free 100-tier Operation Pass and a 100-tier Premium Pass, with no expiration date imposed. The free Pass grants players access to three new armor sets—Serpin, Seeker, and Adamant—alongside various coatings, visors, and stances. Meanwhile, the Premium Pass unlocks five exclusive armor sets (Artificer, Seedwarden, Kobold, Phoenix, and First Vanguard), six unique weapon models, and over thirty specialist customizations. Notably, instant unlocks for the Premium tier will include the Charged Quill Shock Rifle model and a striking Phoenix Gold weapon coating.
Exciting Additions to The Exchange
Additionally, players will find more than 200 new customization items in The Exchange, encompassing armor pieces, attachments, coatings, charms, and visors. This feature includes items from past Operations, Events, and Fractures, along with special bundles from Halo 5: Guardians.
New Maps and Seasonal Challenges
For those keen on diving into fresh gameplay experiences, a festive map named Yuletide will debut in the Quick Play playlist, while an asymmetrical map called Vacancy will be added to various Ranked playlists, including Arena, Slayer, and Doubles. Upcoming Ranked Seasons will reset periodically, allowing top players the chance to earn exclusive Spartan customizations. Despite Operation: Infinite being the concluding update for Halo: Infinite, players can continue enjoying a rotating selection of Daily and Weekly Challenges, which offer numerous paths to enhance Career Rank and garner Spartan Points.
Community and Reception
Halo: Infinite launched in December 2021 to a generally favorable response, particularly for its free-to-play multiplayer mode. However, despite the initial enthusiasm, the game struggled with post-launch support, leading to diminished excitement among its player base.
