Cloud’s Kingdom Hearts Outfit Mod for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Cloud’s appearance in Kingdom Hearts draws parallels to the character Vincent Valentine, notably in their edgy aesthetics. When Cloud first appeared in this beloved Disney collaboration, he acted as a foe within the Olympus Colosseum, creating a contrast with other Final Fantasy characters like Squall, who served as mentors to Sora. Cloud’s role as a boss in the initial installment of the series was a memorable moment, preparing fans for his evolving character arc, which would later reflect in Kingdom Hearts 2 where his outfit was upgraded to that of Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children.
Since the successful launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC, the new mod by user ColossalCake has gained popularity. Gamers seeking to enhance their experience can find this mod on NexusMods. To function properly, the mod relies on another installation called “Loveless Outfits – Individual”by Ninjagrime.
ColossalCake mentioned that while adapting the bandages around the Buster Sword, they noticed a unique change in the sword’s orientation. Unlike its traditional tilt in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the sword is displayed vertically in some cutscenes, which can result in Cloud missing his sword temporarily. However, rest assured that during combat, the Buster Sword will seamlessly connect with Cloud’s grip when needed.
The mod features two variant designs for the Kingdom Hearts outfit: one with the notable black wing and another without. The meshes and textures were sourced from the game Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, where the Kingdom Hearts outfit was introduced as an alternate costume known as the Sky-Soarer outfit.
While subsequent Kingdom Hearts titles have shifted their focus away from Final Fantasy characters, fans remain hopeful that the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 4 will spotlight iconic figures like Cloud and others from the franchise. Only time will reveal whether these beloved characters will return in prospective installments of the series.
