Unveiling Cosmic Exploration in Final Fantasy XIV: Patch 7.21 Overview
Final Fantasy XIV players can now embark on thrilling new adventures to Source’s Moon, thanks to the recent Dawntrail patch 7.21. This update introduces a variety of features, side quests, and activities, along with exciting rewards as players contribute to the development of Sinus Ardorum. While playing on your home world within the MMORPG, you have the chance to participate in Stellar Missions, support the Lunar Development Initiative, and acquire new tools for Disciples of the Hand and Land, alongside unique equipment, dyes, a mechanized mount, and a robot minion. More details on these features were initially revealed during the 7.2 Letter from the Producer Live, and the official patch notes are now accessible.
Getting Started with Cosmic Exploration
To access the Sinus Ardorum base camp on the Moon, players must first complete the main scenario quest titled “Endwalker” and initiate the new side quests. You can travel between the planet and the moon from a location known as Drivingway in Mare Lamentorum (X:21.9, Y:13.2).Upon arrival, players will utilize the new Exotablet tool to engage with the Lunar Development Initiative through various Stellar Missions, which often involve gathering materials for facility development and camp enhancements.
As highlighted by Square Enix, one of the missions, the Northwestern Vicinity Survey, requires players to collect 25 items from designated points within a strict three-minute time frame. The performance will be rated with a star score, and gathered materials will be stored in your Cosmopouch. Players can employ their Cosmic Crafting Log for creating new items, and these quests may have specific timing constraints, including red alerts or weather conditions.
Unique Experiences Await on the Moon
The patch notes outline several distinctive activities available on the moon. Among them is Mech Ops, allowing players to serve as either ground support for a pilot or pilot a mech during specific duties. Participation requires the expenditure of Lunar Credits for a Pilot Application. It’s noteworthy that only five random players are selected as pilots during this process, while others receiving a refund can enjoy improved chances for subsequent attempts.
Additionally, players can partake in FATE to contribute to a “large-scale project” on the moon, both of which offer unique rewards and in-game currencies.
How to Start the Cosmic Exploration Side Quests
Before diving into the Cosmic Exploration side quests, players must achieve at least Disciple of the Hand or Land level 10 and complete the main story quest “Endwalker.” Below are the side quests to kickstart your lunar adventure:
- “A Cosmic Homecoming” – Meet Namingway at Old Sharlayan (X:12.6, Y:13.6).Completing this quest grants a Cosmic Prototype Coffer which provides a cosmic tool for your current class.
- “Passion, Thy Name is Ardorum” – After finishing “A Cosmic Homecoming” and reaching the requisite Cosmic Exploration rank, speak to Searchingway at Sinus Ardorum (X:20.4, Y:20.0).
- “A Manager’s Patience” – After completing “Passion, Thy Name is Ardorum, ” continue Cosmic Exploration tasks until you can meet Mumukko at Sinus Ardorum (X:21.6, Y:21.1).
