Patch Notes for February 2025 Update
Season 24 of Apex Legends commenced on February 11, accompanied by noteworthy changes, despite the absence of a new hero or map. Following the prior Support class overhaul, the developers, Respawn Entertainment, shifted focus to enhance the Assault class this season.
This seasonal update introduced various perks for Assault characters, such as Combat Reserve, Stowed Reload, and Battle Surge. Additionally, two characters, Ash and Ballistic, received considerable upgrades. However, subsequent changes indicate a move to moderate the enhancements made in Season 24.
One more update, legends. Ash’s Dash cooldown has been doubled to give you more time to react against this Apex assassin.— Respawn (@Respawn) February 20, 2025
On February 19, Respawn rolled out an update that balanced several weapons and characters. Specifically, the Assault class nerf impacted the new Battle Surge perk, cutting the scan duration in half from four seconds to two after breaking an enemy’s shields. Additionally, Ash’s double Ultimate upgrade has been shifted to level 3. Consequently, players can no longer stack two Passives and Ultimate charges simultaneously. Furthermore, Ash’s Passive, Predator’s Pursuit, now has a doubled cooldown, complicating her dash chaining during battles.
In terms of weapon adjustments, both the L-Star and Rampage experienced damage reductions after being buffed at the beginning of Season 24. The L-Star now cools down faster, amplifying the challenge in its usage. Moreover, adjustments were made to Mirage, who will no longer reveal his health bars when targeted by Assault class Legends.
Impact on the Apex Legends Meta
The current updates raise intriguing questions regarding their influence on the Apex Legends meta during Season 24. The modifications are likely to stir changes in player preferences, especially as Ash has recently emerged as the most popular character, boasting an impressive 27.1% pick rate—the highest ever recorded in the battle royale’s history. This meteoric rise in popularity can largely be attributed to her newly introduced Passive ability, Predator’s Pursuit, which allows her to enhance her aerial mobility paired with Battle Surge’s movement boost. How effective these changes will be in decreasing her usage among players remains to be seen.

Moving forward, it will be vital for Respawn to heed player feedback and continue refining character abilities and weapon balances. While the game’s recent season launch has led to a resurgence in player engagement, sustaining that interest may require ongoing adjustments and enhancements throughout the season.
