February 2025 Update Brings Surprises to Astro’s Playroom

Summary of the Latest Update

  • Astro’s Playroom has introduced a surprise update that includes the PS5 Pro along with other PlayStation accessories within the gacha machine.
  • Players can now collect Artifacts and showcase oversized replicas in the exclusive PlayStation Labo area.

Astro’s Playroom has recently undergone an unexpected update, introducing the highly anticipated PS5 Pro as well as additional PlayStation accessories into the gacha machine. Originally released over four years ago, this beloved platforming adventure from developer Team Asobi has continued to receive updates that keep players engaged.

Launched in 2020 as a pre-installed title for the PS5, Astro’s Playroom served as an introduction to the capabilities of the DualSense controller. It laid the groundwork for the critically acclaimed Astro Bot, which debuted in 2024 and captured numerous Game of the Year accolades. Despite the run of success by Astro Bot, Team Asobi has not overlooked the original Astro’s Playroom, as evidenced by this latest content update.

According to a discovery by Twitter user realradec, the February 2025 update now includes the PS5 Pro as an Artifact collectible. Within Astro’s Playroom, players can acquire these “Artifacts”through a gacha machine that unlocks various collectible items inspired by PlayStation’s diverse history. Although Team Asobi did not officially announce the additional features, the update also brings the PS5 Pulse Elite Headset and Pulse Explore Earbuds to the mix. Once players acquire these new items, they have the option to display their larger-than-life versions in the vibrant PlayStation Labo area. Additionally, players will notice a refreshed boot-up cover art, further enhancing the experience.

February 2025 Update Introduces PS5 Pro

The inclusion of the PS5 Pro Artifact could serve as a significant reason for players to revisit Astro’s Playroom. Known for its notably uncomplicated platinum trophy challenge on the PS5, mastering all levels yields a gratifying accomplishment. However, it is important to note that while Astro’s Playroom has added the PS5 Pro within its gameplay, it was not part of the wide array of titles that received dedicated enhancements for the PS5 Pro upon its launch, despite being pre-installed with every device.

Although the recent update for Astro’s Playroom may be understated, Team Asobi and PlayStation have been actively pushing new free downloadable content (DLC) for Astro Bot. The initial two levels of this DLC were launched on February 13 and February 20, with plans for new levels to debut weekly until March 13. Upon completing all DLC levels, players will unlock an exciting new game mode called Time Attack. While the possibility of further updates for Astro’s Playroom remains uncertain, it’s clear that further content is anticipated for Astro Bot, given its significant popularity and acclaim.
