FBC Firebreak Guide: Obtaining Research Samples Effectively

FBC Firebreak Guide: Obtaining Research Samples Effectively

In the world of FBC: Firebreak, players will discover a variety of hidden items scattered throughout the different Jobsites. Among these, the Research Samples hold significant importance, as they enhance your perks, elevating them to more effective levels over time.

Research Samples function similarly to Lost Assets, yet they are not typically found in the same locations. Additionally, the quantity of Research Samples available during any given Job is generally lower than that of Lost Assets.

This guide aims to inform you about the missions linked to specific Research Samples in FBC: Firebreak and to provide useful tips for locating and managing them effectively.

If you’re new to the game, it’s wise to delay focusing on Research Samples until you unlock the Corruption modifiers. Your initial priority should be on mastering the basics.

Research Samples are a unique form of in-game currency integral to upgrading your perks from basic to advanced levels. As you progress into higher difficulty levels involving Corruption, accumulating these samples becomes essential.

You will notice that each sample radiates a distinct color, but only one type will appear at a given Jobsite. To locate Research Samples at a Jobsite, you must have unlocked at least one level of Corruption.

The more Corruption levels you possess, the greater the number of Research Samples you can discover. However, keep in mind that collecting these samples is futile if you do not successfully complete the Job and extract.

Where to Locate Research Samples

Each Research Sample corresponds to a specific Jobsite, meaning you’ll encounter only one type of sample at each Job. It’s essential to take on the right Jobs to gather the specific samples you desire.

The following table outlines which Jobs yield which Research Samples, along with their unique colors for easy identification:

Research Samples Jobsite Color
Resonant Globs Frequency Shift Green
Achromatic Sand Ground Control Light Blue
Viscous Strips Paper Chase Yellow
Whispering Ash Hot Fix Orange
Numbed Splinters Freezer Duty Dark Blue

Research Samples can typically be found scattered throughout each zone, particularly in areas where Corrupted Items have been activated. If you initiate a run with fewer than three Corrupted Items, your chances of finding Research Samples are limited to those specific Corrupted Items.

When defeated, Corrupted Items and powerful enemies at elevated difficulty levels will drop Research Samples, providing great opportunities for collection.

To optimize your experience, target the Job that corresponds to the specific Research Samples you require and increase the corruption level to its maximum. While it is technically possible to farm these samples by prolonging a Job until powerful enemies spawn, I advise against this strategy.

Given the random nature of enemy waves, there’s no assurance you’ll encounter enough enemies to make this a productive endeavor, although higher difficulty levels like Extreme can increase your chances significantly.

However, proceed with caution; enhancing the difficulty to Extreme is best reserved for players equipped with level three weapons and strong cooperative team dynamics.

Often, you’ll find Research Samples conveniently stacked alongside Lost Assets. These items may overlap, so it’s prudent to collect everything in the vicinity to ensure you don’t miss out.

Engaging in FBC: Firebreak requires a considerable investment of time, yet once you grasp its mechanics, formulating your strategy for each Job becomes significantly more manageable.

As you accumulate levels and gather numerous Research Samples, you will be well-prepared for any challenge the game presents.
