Fans Speculate on New Character’s Role in Squid Game Season 2

Overview of Anticipated Character in Squid Game Season 2

  • Viewers are buzzing about the introduction of No Eul, a new character in Squid Game Season 2.
  • Portrayed by Park Gyu Young, No Eul’s background as a former North Korean soldier adds layers of intrigue.
  • Her unclear allegiance raises questions: is she a guard or an ally to Hwang Jun-ho?

Squid Game Season 2 is just a short time away, creating a wave of excitement among fans eager to explore new plotlines and characters. The latest promotional materials have introduced a particularly enigmatic figure, No Eul, whose distinct appearance has sparked numerous theories about her role in this gripping series.

When Squid Game debuted on Netflix in September 2021, it quickly gained critical acclaim and a massive following, leading to the announcement of not one but two new seasons. With the release of trailers and promotional content for Season 2, audiences are especially intrigued by No Eul, played by actress Park Gyu Young. Young is known for her roles in various series such as A Good Day to Be a Dog (2023-2024) and Sweet Home (2020-2024). In the official “Meet the Cast”video, Young described No Eul as a former North Korean soldier, highlighting her backstory that includes leaving her child behind for a hopeful reunion.

However, what stands out is her absence from the iconic green player jumpsuits. Instead, she dons different attire, which has led viewers to speculate that she might serve as one of the guards — individuals dressed in striking red jumpsuits and shapeshifting masks (circle, triangle, and square). As established in Season 1, guards maintain order among the deadly games while keeping their identities hidden.

Park Gyu Young’s character remains a mystery even though she’s one of the main cast. My guess is that she’s the new black square guard or will be playing as a guard. What do you all think? by u/Proper_Ad_6833 in squidgame

There are theories suggesting that No Eul could actually be an ally to Wi Ha-joo’s character, Detective Hwang Jun-ho. Hwang, who was last seen in a confrontation with his brother, the enigmatic Front Man, is on a mission to discover the truth about his sibling’s involvement in the sinister Squid Game. Given that Hwang is confirmed to return for Season 2, it stands to reason that he would need a companion who possesses knowledge about the game’s intricacies or where the Front Man might be.

Although her true intentions and role are still shrouded in mystery, No Eul’s visibility in promotional content indicates her potential significance to the unfolding narrative. As discussions heat up among fans, many hope that her story allows insight into the lives of the masked characters that have captivated audiences. Alongside Young, T.O.P (Choi Seun Hyun) is also set to join the cast, although his absence in recent promotional materials has raised eyebrows.

Squid Game Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on December 26, 2024, and fans can hardly wait to uncover the layers behind No Eul and what this season has in store for them.
