On October 17, 2024, Jung Ho-seok, known as j-hope from BTS, officially completed his military service. His fellow band member, Kim Seok-jin, was present at the military base to personally welcome the ARSON rapper-songwriter back to civilian life. Observant fans pointed out that Jin was sporting a striking burgundy hair color as he approached j-hope for a warm embrace, complemented by a fashionable burgundy Gucci outfit.
Having successfully completed his mandatory national service in June 2024, j-hope became the second BTS member to transition back into civilian life, stepping out from the military facility in Wonju, located in Gangwon province, dressed in his uniform and a black beret.
During an interaction with members of the press at the base, a female journalist knelt beside j-hope, holding a bundle of microphones from various news outlets to ensure clarity in his statements. In a comical moment, Jin came to help by taking the microphones from the journalist and knelt down next to j-hope to facilitate the interview.
This amusing incident delighted BTS fans, who also noted the vibrant burgundy of Jin’s hair shining in the sunlight. Adding to the light-heartedness, j-hope was seen attempting to swat away a bug while managing the stack of microphones, much to the amusement of his supporters.
Additionally, fans drew attention to Jin’s pants matching his hair color while referencing a humorous moment from a Run BTS! episode, where he playfully teased BTS member Namjoon for his purple hair and pants. One fan shared on X:
“Guys, his hair matches his pants. It’s all come full circle.”
The fandom praised Jin’s new look, deeming it as “one of his best looks yet.”
“Coloured hair…. rings….. earrings, Jin please come back to me,”one fan expressed.
“Okay, but can we talk about how this is one of his best looks?”another fan commented.
“Now THIS might have dethroned purple Jin for me, I fear,”one more fan added.
Others highlighted Jin’s fashion choices, noting his complete burgundy Gucci outfit paired with black Gucci boots, topped off with a FRED Force 10 ring adorning his left pinky finger.
“Seokjin dyed his hair burgundy. Just look at the best brand ambassador; the Face of Gucci and the Face of Fred, Kim Seokjin. He’s styled from head to toe in Gucci and Fred, even his glasses are Gucci,”one admirer proclaimed.
“Seokjinnie fighting bugs while looking absolutely dashing with his burgundy hair,”another fan chimed in.
“Can we agree that Jin’s burgundy undertone hair is the best hair of ALL time?”one more fan opined.
BTS’ j-hope Returns to Civilians Life After Completing Military Service
As j-hope arrived at the Wonju military training center, he bowed to the assembled journalists, adhering to BIGHIT MUSIC’s request for the BTS fandom not to gather at the base in order to maintain a respectful atmosphere.
According to reports from Reuters, j-hope expressed gratitude to fans, stating:
“Thanks to the fans, I was able to complete it (the service) safely and in good health. What I have experienced over the past year and a half is that many soldiers are working hard, dedicating themselves, and doing so much to protect the country.”
Unfortunately, the remaining five members of BTS were unable to attend j-hope’s discharge due to their ongoing military enlistments. Meanwhile, concerns arose regarding the security situation as North Korea initiated hostile actions by targeting routes to South Korea. Reports indicated that following declarations from Kim Jong-un’s government, South Korea’s military prepared to recall personnel from their leaves. BTS leader Kim Namjoon returned home on the night of October 16, as noted in a post from Park Jin-pyo, editor of Eyes Magazine, on Instagram.
Namjoon’s absence from j-hope’s discharge ceremony further emphasized that his leave may have been rescinded due to the escalated tensions between the two nations, which have been in conflict since 1950.
In other developments, BTS members Namjoon, Jimin, Jungkook, Taehyung, and Suga are expected to return to civilian life in June 2025 upon the completion of their military services.
