This week, The Great British Bake Off 2024 brought viewers a fresh episode on Tuesday, October 29, where the remaining contestants showcased their culinary skills in Autumn Week, crafting dishes that celebrate the flavors of the Fall season.
The seven bakers faced off in three distinct tasks: the signature bake, a technical challenge, and the showstopper, which involved creating an Autumn Festival Cake. Sumayah stood out to earn the title of Star Baker, while Nelly found herself leaving the competition.
Following Nelly’s departure, fans expressed their disappointment on social media, mourning the loss of one of their favorites. One user shared on X:

During Autumn Week, the bakers were challenged to create desserts inspired by autumn, including transforming vegetables into exquisite celebration cakes.
For the Signature Bake, contestants prepared sweet autumnal pies. Nelly crafted an Out of Nature Pie featuring apples and poppy seeds, while Gill presented a blackberry and apple Windy Day Pie and Dylan showcased an Autumnal apple pie.
Illiyin created an Autumnal fruit pie, and Christiaan baked a Forest Cano-pie. Contestant Georgie offered up a pumpkin and pecan pie, with Sumayah providing a butternut and pecan pie to the judges.
The technical challenge required bakers to whip up a Parkin, a spiced, dense ginger cake with a vegan twist, where Nelly placed fifth, while Illiyin finished first and Gill landed last leading into the Showstopper challenge.
Contestants were encouraged to incorporate vegetables into their Autumn Festival Cakes. Nelly’s creation, the Woman in Autumn Cake, was a chocolate and avocado cake, but it ultimately proved too dense, resulting in her elimination.
