Fans React to Aliyah vs. Sofronio’s “Grammy-Level” Battles Performance on The Voice

The latest episode of Season 26 of The Voice premiered on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, showcasing the fourth night of the Battles. Contestants returned to the spotlight to engage in fierce head-to-head contests, vying for a chance to move forward to the next stage of the competition. At the conclusion of these duets, the coaches were tasked with selecting one artist from each pair to progress to the Knockouts while regrettably letting the other go home.

The coaches had a strategic option; they could utilize the Steal button to save the eliminated contestants they believed still possessed potential, giving them another chance to showcase their talents.

Coach Michael paired Sofronio Vasques and Aliyah Khaylyn for the fourth Battle night, asking them to perform Celine Dion’s iconic hit The Power of Love. Their impactful rendition captivated the coaches, putting Michael in a challenging position as he could only choose one artist to advance, hoping the other might be snatched up by another mentor.

After David announced Sofronio as the winner, Coach Snoop Dogg immediately seized the opportunity to add Aliyah to his team. Fans of The Voice took to X to praise the outstanding duet by Sofronio and Aliyah, while many applauded Snoop for recognizing Aliyah’s talent.

“Sofronio Vasquez vs Aaliyah Khaylyn opened with such a light flutter, almost reminiscent of a yodel. Their voices are expressive with fantastic control and fluidity. She commanded the stage while he poured his focus into the melody—definitely a Grammy-level performance,” commented a fan.

“Aliyah and Sofronio… tackling one of my favorite Celine songs!” noted another viewer.

“Reba called it the best performance of the night, and I have to concur. Incredible!” tweeted a netizen.

Several fans argued that Sofronio outshone Aliyah, despite both giving impressive performances.

“Aliyah is talented, but I fear Sofronio takes the win. I do expect she’ll get stolen,” reacted one user.

“Both Aliyah and Sofronio were fantastic. I thought he was just a notch better,” commented another.

Others applauded the performances from both singers.

“Aliyah and Sofronio… Truly beautiful!” wrote a different fan.

“Wow! An incredible performance by Sofronio Vasquez and Aliyah Khaylyn. The chemistry between them was evident, making it one of the standout performances of the night,” tweeted another viewer.

Some viewers thanked Snoop Dogg for opting to steal Aliyah.

“Snoop to the rescue for a steal!” reacted one observer.

“AND we have a STEAL on #VoiceBattles. Welcome, #Aliyah, to your new coach and #TeamSnoop. Congratulations, Aliyah! You’re heading to the 3-way #VoiceKnockouts,” added another net citizen.

Coaches’ Feedback on Aliyah and Sofronio’s Battle Performance

Sofronio and Aliyah’s rendition of The Power of Love left coaches astounded, as they pondered Michael’s choice. Addressing the performances, Snoop remarked:

“It wasn’t merely about competing… You both created moments where you could showcase your talents, and the physical connection at the end was beautiful. It truly resonated with me.”

Reba echoed Snoop’s sentiments, noting how the duo’s captivating delivery rendered their performance as the night’s highlight. She praised their “distinct voices,”revealing that their singing gave her chills.

Michael expressed regret at having to pit “two of the strongest singers”against one another. Still, he recognized who truly took the spotlight and hoped for the outcome he desired. He announced Sofronio as the Battle winner, which would sadly end Aliyah’s journey. Yet, before she could exit, Snoop Dogg swiftly hit the Steal button, bringing Aliyah onto his team. He explained his choice:

“Aliyah was able to stand toe-to-toe with Sofronio, note for note… She held her ground, so I knew she deserved a place on my team because I can offer her exactly what she needs.”
