Fans React: 50 Cent Warned Lil Durk About His Crew During Last Meeting
On October 30, 50 Cent made an appearance on The Breakfast Club radio show, where he tackled a variety of subjects, most notably Lil Durk’s recent arrest. For those unfamiliar, Durk faced serious legal issues, having been charged with murder-for-hire along with several members of his Only the Family (OTF) crew. During the interview, 50 Cent mentioned that he had previously advised Durk to be cautious about the individuals he associates with.
A particularly noteworthy excerpt from the interview has since gone viral online, where 50 Cent expressed:
“When I was with Durk in New York, we teamed up for Power Powder Respect, creating a theme song for Force, which was Chicago’s version. I asked him, ‘Oh, this is them? This is the real deal, right?’ He confirmed, saying ‘yeah, yeah.’ I told him to be careful around his crew. You know what I mean?”
Popular platform @mymixtapez shared the clip of 50 Cent’s insights, which quickly reached nearly two million views. Social media reactions varied, with many users wishing emerging artists would heed the wisdom of seasoned veterans in the rap industry. A few notable comments included:
“50 Cent is the only trustworthy person in the industry,” wrote one user on X.
“Pretty sure it was already too late by then…” added another.
“You can’t trust just anyone around you; these OGs must know a lot and go,” mentioned a third user.
Lil Durk was arrested along with Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Asa Houston, Keith Jones, and David Brian Lindsey, all identified as OTF crew members according to law enforcement. Additional responses included:
“Well, he was already entrenched in that lifestyle, so this outcome was expected,” noted one user.
“The crew is always the one that can drag you down,” commented another.
“He could have put his trust in 50,” asserted a netizen.
Clearly, numerous commenters felt it was too late for Lil Durk to heed 50 Cent’s advice, suggesting he had already established OTF by that timeframe. Further responses included:
“That’s some serious wisdom,” wrote one user.
“50 Cent has witnessed it all; Durk should have been more cautious around those guys,” stated another.
“50 Cent is always genuine; Durk ought to take heed,” pointed out an observer.
What Led to Lil Durk’s Arrest? Insights Uncovered Following 50 Cent’s Viral Interview Clip
Lil Durk and his OTF crew face serious allegations, including an indictment suggesting they orchestrated a hit on fellow Chicago rapper Quando Rondo in retaliation for the fatal shooting of King Von, who was affiliated with OTF and a close collaborator of Durk’s. The legal documents regarding Durk, whose full name is Devontay Durk Banks, stated:
“Evidence indicates that Banks gave the order for T.B. [Quando Rondo’s] murder and that the assassins utilized Banks and OTF-related funds to execute the killing.”
The indictment further detailed that the OTF crew attempted to use a “fully automatic firearm” against Rondo but accidentally shot his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, instead.
This especially concerning situation is not the first encounter with the law for Durk; he previously faced accusations related to a shooting in Atlanta, which were dropped in 2022.
He is also confronting a lawsuit from the mother of the deceased rapper FBG Duck, who claims Durk’s record label profited from Duck’s tragic shooting in 2020.
