Fans of Below Deck Sailing Yacht Criticize Chef Cloyce for Neglecting Duties: “This Isn’t a Vacation”

On October 21, 2024, the third episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5, titled “Let The Bottles Hit The Floor,”premiered. In this episode, Chef Cloyce became overly involved in setting up water floats for the charter guests, much to Captain Glenn’s concern about timely meal preparations.

Earlier in the episode, tensions rose when Chef Cloyce clashed with his fellow crew members over covering the cost of drinks, stating he needed to save money for other expenses. His colleagues were taken aback, as they were aware that he held the highest-paying position on the yacht.

Chef Cloyce was delighted to assist with organizing the Floatopia party and saw it as an opportunity to mend fences with the crew. However, he became distracted with the float preparations and socializing with guests, which led to delays in getting lunch ready.

Fans of Below Deck Sailing Yacht expressed their dissatisfaction with Cloyce’s apparent lack of professionalism on social media.

“CLOYCE!! What are you doing, my dude??”a netizen tweeted.

Numerous fans expressed their disappointment with Chef Cloyce’s actions during this episode.

“Why is Cloyce even proposing to go off and play?”one user questioned.

“The chef needs to be preparing dinner, not enjoying the water like it’s a day off. He’s a disaster,”a viewer noted.

“I’ve never seen a chef abandon the galley to hang out with guests,”another fan expressed.

“What was he thinking? He should be either in the kitchen or his cabin, not playing with water toys. The Captain was furious,”one user remarked.

One fan even claimed that Chef Cloyce displayed worse behavior than Chef Jono from Below Deck Mediterranean, while another questioned if Cloyce had “lost his senses.”

“Cloyce seems less experienced than Jono,”a viewer reacted.

“This chef has fully lost his mind! Playing around with charter guests instead of properly preparing lunch??”another netizen exclaimed.

Captain Glenn’s Frustration with Chef Cloyce in Episode 3

While Chef Cloyce was preoccupied in the kitchen, the crew worked on assembling and inflating the floats for the guests’ Floatopia party. Captain Glenn reminded him that lunch needed to be served promptly at 4 PM as the crew had to wrap things up by 5 PM.

Cloyce eagerly volunteered to assist with the float setups, insisting he had ample time to prepare the meals for the guests. Watching the proceedings, he expressed to the cameras:

“I’m thrilled to help the deck team, and enjoying the lovely Spanish sunshine after several tough days of work is wonderful.”

However, as the guests settled into their party, Gary approached Chef Cloyce to inform him it was time to return, to which Cloyce replied, “Not necessarily,”suggesting he didn’t need to worry about meal preparation.

Gary expressed his concern that Cloyce might fall behind, emphasizing that his responsibility lay in the kitchen. With just over an hour left until lunch, Captain Glenn dreaded that there would be no food ready for the guests.

Stewardess Diane noticed Cloyce serving Chardonnay to the guests and commented:

“Bro, I’m trying to do my job, and you’re here like you’re stealing my thunder. You need to be in the galley. Ugh, just frustrating.”

Glenn’s anger escalated when he inspected the kitchen and found no preparations underway. His frustration boiled over upon realizing that the Chef had been socializing in the water while the team worked. Speaking to the cameras, he noted that Cloyce needed to understand that he was not a guest on the yacht.
