Since 2017, Rod Wave has maintained a yearly tradition of releasing his music, and he has now unveiled his sixth studio album, titled Last Lap. This highly anticipated project was made available on all major streaming platforms on Friday, courtesy of Alamo Records and Sony Music Entertainment.
The new album serves as a follow-up to Nostalgia from 2023, which featured collaborations with artists like 21 Savage, Wet, and Sadie Jean. Last Lap also boasts exciting collaborations, including tracks with Lil Baby, Lil Yachty, and others.
In his announcement post for the album’s release, Rod expressed his gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support, saying:
“Thank you for allowing me to live out my dream; it’s truly a blessing. I appreciate you for supporting my kids and family, for the tough times, the constructive feedback, the highs, and the lows, thank you for it all.”
As soon as Last Lap became available on streaming services, fans quickly took to social media to share their excitement for Rod Wave and his latest work. One fan expressed their anticipation for this new album from the Florida-born artist.
Further reactions flooded in, with many fans highlighting their admiration for the emotional depth and beauty of Last Lap:
“This album is just beautiful asf. I’ve been crying for 40 minutes straight ughhhhhhh!”- one fan commented.
“Your music has helped me through heartbreak since 2019, and I’m so grateful for you, bruh. I’m in tears right now. I love this album for real.”- another fan shared.
“Thank you for taking your time with this album! Last Lap“- a fan praised Rod Wave.

“We are definitely going to be listening to this for the next eight months, my boy!”- a fan stated.
Recently, outlets on X (formerly Twitter) reported that Rod Wave’s Last Lap could be on track for one of the most significant streaming debuts on Apple Music since Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department in April.
This sparked discussions among fans and music critics about Rod Wave’s influence in the hip-hop scene, particularly noting how he appeals to a growing “female fanbase”.
“Rod Wave is a prime example of how Twitter hate doesn’t affect reality.”- a commenter noted.
“Where do all these Rod Wave fans appear from whenever he releases an album? There’s hardly any talk about him, but every release brings in listeners.”- a user questioned.
“Rod Wave is immensely popular, yet not as vocal online. He has an incredible fanbase, especially among women, which many other rappers lack.”- a hip-hop news account replied.
“For those surprised, remember Apple Music has a significantly smaller user base than Spotify, and it tends to attract more hip-hop and R&B listeners.”- a user explained.
