Fans Disappointed by DJ Khaled Collaboration on SEVENTEEN’s Upcoming Album “SPILL THE FEELS”
On October 1, 2024, SEVENTEEN surprised their fans by announcing a collaboration with DJ Khaled for their forthcoming album SPILL THE FEELS. The announcement was made via their official X account (@pledis_17), accompanied by a screen recording where DJ Khaled expressed his excitement about incorporating his “signature sound”into the track, which he insisted was “fire.”
“Hey SEVENTEEN, I just added my signature sound into our finished track, so check it out! IT’S FIRE!” Khaled stated.
However, the reaction from fans was unexpectedly negative. Many Carats, the dedicated SEVENTEEN fanbase, expressed disappointment about DJ Khaled’s involvement. Instead of the excitement typically associated with high-profile collaborations, numerous fans voiced their concerns, believing that his feature did not align with their expectations for SEVENTEEN’s music.
Some fans even urged the group to reconsider the collaboration. One user on X, @lvz4won, expressed that they “only care about the band,”raising concerns about Khaled’s “problematic”history.
“IM JUST POINTING OUT HOW PROBLEMATIC DJ KHALED IS AND WE DON’T WANT SVT TO ASSOCIATE WITH HIM. we only care abt svt, soooo…”
“can we agree that some of us aren’t 100% okay with this collab?,”a fan commented.
“come on, why are you even tolerating this at the first place? WE ONLY WANT SEVENTEEN,”another user mentioned.
“so who’s gonna do us a favor and edit out dj khaled like twice alcohol free without the jyp,”a fan remarked.
The backlash toward DJ Khaled’s feature on SPILL THE FEELS stems from various concerns. While some fans were irked by the DJ’s silence regarding the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, others criticized his associations, particularly with Sean “Diddy”Combs, who is currently facing significant legal issues.
“Thank god someone said it! Do not fall for it. DJ Khaled is not a good person. His friendship with Diddy should be a big enough red flag! Also, the fact that he’s Palestinian & has remained SILENT about the GENOCIDE of his people,”a fan commented.
“Sorry but I don’t feel so excited ’bout this one anymore. I love Seventeen so much but I hope they won’t get dragged in any issues that solely focus on DJ Khaled,”an X user mentioned.
“Stop featuring these people, research who you’re collabing with before you collab im begging..,”a person wrote.
Numerous SEVENTEEN fans believe that this collaboration could negatively impact the group’s public image and are calling for a reassessment of working with DJ Khaled.
