“Fans Demand the Uninstallation of Editing Apps” – Reactions to BTS’ Jin’s Alleged Whitewashed Photos from Salon Drip 2 Appearance
BTS’ Jin’s Recent Salon Drip 2 Episode Sparks Controversy Over Photo Editing
On November 5, the highly anticipated episode 64 of Salon Drip 2, featuring BTS member Jin and hosted by the popular presenter Jang Do-yeon, was released on the TEO Universe YouTube channel. The episode has since drawn attention, particularly regarding concerns over the allegedly edited behind-the-scenes photographs.
During the episode, Jin discussed the making of his forthcoming solo album titled Happy. This marks a significant moment for the artist as it is his first solo project, allowing him the opportunity to reflect on his experiences without the support of his fellow BTS members. The musician also touched upon his friendship with renowned chef Paik Jung-won and shared insights from his recent military service.
Allegations of Photo Editing
Social media users quickly noticed that the promotional images released by TEO Universe appeared significantly brighter than the original footage from the episode. Speculation arose among fans that the photographs had been heavily edited to alter the complexions of Jin and Jang Do-yeon, making them appear paler than usual.
Comments on various platforms indicate a strong backlash against the production team’s choices. Users have pointed out inconsistencies in color, particularly highlighting the lightness of Jin’s cardigan in the edited photos compared to his on-screen appearance.
“The urge to uninstall their editing apps from their device, why did they whitewash that much?” a fan expressed.
“How’d they manage to make them whiter than the background?” commented another.
“He’s blending into the walls lmao that’s some crazy whitewashing,” remarked a user.
Many netizens further criticized the extent of the editing, alleging that the visuals made Jin’s skin tone nearly indistinguishable from the background.
“The white wash of their faces was so extreme, there would have been no difference between the walls and their faces,” shared another user.
“The whitewashing is absurd; ik Jin is already pale, but not like that,” another user commented.
“These images are the first thing you see when you enter heaven!! I mean, why is it whitewashed so much; they made the brown shrug cream,” added a fan.
Insights into Jin’s Upcoming Album and a Heartfelt Song for ARMY
Amidst the photo editing controversy, Jin also opened up during his appearance about his creative process for his album Happy. He revealed that he had written a special song for his fans, ARMYs, shortly after his military discharge.
“Starting from the day after I was discharged, I wrote the lyrics of my fan song in just a day or two,” he stated.
The song, titled “I Will Come to You,” will serve as the outro track for Happy, which is set to release on November 15, 2024. Jin expressed his sentiment by saying:
“I packed the song with my longing. ‘I… will be there soon. I will soon leave this place to get to you, so please wait for me.’”
Notably, Happy will include a total of six tracks, featuring titles such as “Running Wild,” “I’ll Be There,” “Another Level,” “Falling,” and “Heart on the Window” (featuring artist WENDY).
As Jin embarks on this exciting yet controversial era of his career, fans are keen to see how he balances his individual artistry with the legacy of BTS.
