On October 25, Lil Durk, the Chicago-based rapper, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Florida, linked to the murder of Saviay’a Robinson, recognized as Lul Pab, who was the cousin of Georgia rapper Quando Rondo. He now faces a murder-for-hire accusation, and his mugshot has quickly gained widespread attention online.
In response to this situation, many of Lil Durk’s supporters have taken to social media to advocate for his release. Several fans highlighted that Timothy “Lul Tim” Leeks, who is believed to have been involved in the murder of Durk’s mentee, King Von, has had all charges against him dismissed, while Quando Rondo, alleged to be tied to Von’s homicide, remains uncharged.
A user on X, @404lord, responded to a comment from @Block100x stating “He slid for Von”on DJ Akademiks’ post:
“I can’t lie, this is undeniable. But Quando and Lul Tim are still free. Thus, it’s still a loss.”
Many others engaged in the discussion, echoing similar sentiments.
“Lul Tim murdered Von over an incident with Quando Rondo. Lul Tim evades his charges while Durk tries to hit Quando but ends up in custody himself. You know he’s furious,” wrote a user.
“Durk attempted to have five individuals eliminated for Quando, and Lul Tim remains steadfast. Now, he’s dealing with federal charges,” commented another.
“So, Quando accepted a plea bargain that could have put him away for 20 years, and then shortly after, Durk gets arrested?”was posed by another social media user.
“Murder for hire? Clearly, Lul Tim’s bail was set to ensnare the entire OTF crew, and it’s evidently worked. The feds are strategic,” a netizen remarked.
Fans are actively calling for Lil Durk’s release.
“D*mn, the feds snagged my guy, Lil Durk. Free smurkio, free the real ones!” tweeted one supporter.
“Release him, we need that album,” urged another fan.
“Let Lil Durk go. They’re targeting the entire rap scene,” added another user.
“He’ll return soon; we all know he’s innocent,” a fan confidently stated.
Currently, Lil Durk is being held at Broward County Correctional Facility in Florida, awaiting transfer to California. On October 24, five other men associated with Durk’s Only The Family (OTF) record label were also arrested in connection with Lul Pab’s murder. These men are Kavon London Grant, known as Vonnie; Deandre Dontrell Wilson, or DeDe; Keith Jones, often referred to as Flacka; David Brian Lindsey, nicknamed Browneyez; and Asa Houston, known as Boogie.
Analyzing the timeline of King Von and Lul Pab’s murders amid Lil Durk’s arrest
In the early morning of November 6, 2020, King Von was tragically killed outside the Monaco Hookah Lounge in Atlanta, Georgia, following a conflict with a group that included Quando Rondo and Timothy “Lul Tim” Leeks. The altercation escalated into a gunfight, resulting in three fatalities, including Von, and leaving three others injured.
Lul Tim was subsequently arrested and faced a felony murder charge. Nevertheless, in April 2021, he posted a $100,000 bond after appealing his case, despite the nature of the charges typically not permitting bail in Georgia. He was anticipated to stand trial for his actions.
Fast forward to August 2023, when charges against Lul Tim were dropped, allowing him to be indicted under Georgia’s “stand-your-ground” statute, asserting he acted in self-defense. Since then, no additional suspects have been publicly identified in the murder of King Von.
At the time, Von’s girlfriend, Asian Doll, shared a now-deleted post on X, claiming:
“Because the police said Tim didn’t kill him, the police did.”
Additionally, during a discussion with Angela Yee in 2021, Quando Rondo claimed that he and his associates acted in self-defense the night King Von was shot.
Meanwhile, on August 19, 2022, Quando Rondo, also known as Q-Pac, was at a gas station in Los Angeles with his sister and cousin Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson, along with other friends. A group unexpectedly opened fire, resulting in Robinson’s death, while Rondo and others managed to escape without injury.
Following the investigations into Lul Pab’s murder, federal authorities have determined it was a retaliatory act for King Von’s murder. Currently, Lil Durk and five associates from OTF are facing serious murder-for-hire charges.
It’s noteworthy that Lil Durk was not only King Von’s mentor but also a close friend, collaborator, and head of his record label. Just before Von’s death, the “Viral Moment”artist had shared an Instagram tribute, stating, “MY TWIN GONE. I LOVE YOU BABY BRO – D ROY!!!!!” Quando Rondo has also mentioned that the loss of his cousin “deeply affected him.”
Lil Durk faced prior legal issues, having been arrested in February 2019 alongside King Von for a “non-lethal shooting.” Although Durk secured his release on bail, Von remained in custody until both of their charges were ultimately dropped.
