On October 2, 2023, TXT held their ACT: PROMISE concert in Jakarta, Indonesia, as part of their ongoing global tour. While the group has been traveling to various cities worldwide, the organization of the shows in Indonesia drew significant criticism from netizens and concert-goers alike.
Many fans voiced their dissatisfaction, feeling that BIGHIT MUSIC, the agency representing TXT, significantly underestimated the group’s fanbase and acclaim in Indonesia. Attendees faced a number of challenges during the concert, with the most notable grievance being the show’s scheduling on a weekday instead of the typical weekend dates expected for live performances.
Another concern raised by the audience was the unexpected shift in the concert venue. Initially planned to occupy two halls, the event was later restricted to a single hall without any prior notice given to those attending. This not only resulted in overcrowding but also deprived fans of the anticipated concert experience they had purchased tickets for. The situation posed potential risks, such as suffocation and safety hazards due to the throngs of concert-goers.
Fans also lamented the concert’s lack of theatricality, noting the stage setup did not meet expectations, and there were no special “send-off”gifts provided for attendees. Additionally, a controversial policy prohibited fans from bringing their own food and water into the venue, with no refreshments offered within, which was particularly concerning given the high temperatures and heat warnings in Jakarta during the event.
With temperatures soaring, attendees voiced their concerns regarding the precarious situation at TXT’s ACT: PROMISE World Tour in Jakarta, using hashtags like #APPLEWOODIncompetent and #BIGHITnotFAIR to relay their issues to Applewood Indonesia and BIGHIT MUSIC.
Here’s a snapshot of fan reactions:
“Why do you continue to underestimate their popularity in Jakarta? A single hall barely accommodates everyone! It’s time to respect MOA and TXT by securing a larger venue for the next tour,”a fan expressed on X.
“I can’t believe I spent IDR 3 million for such a poor view. I was expecting a center view, yet you suddenly changed the seating plan without any notice?”voiced another attendee.
“We respectfully ask that our feedback be considered for future events. We urge you to recognize our fandom’s size, as TXT holds significant popularity here,”one user stated.
Responses continued as numerous fans shared their frustrations about the inequity of the concert experience.
“Moreover, there was no barricade between VIP and Category 1. We paid different prices for a reason!”complained an X user.
“BIGHIT needs to treat all fans fairly; it’s unacceptable to show favoritism when we’re all paying significant amounts,”commented another fan on X.
“Some areas experienced unequal treatment, paying different ticket prices but receiving identical benefits,”added another concert-goer.
