Fans Criticize Niles for Manipulative Behavior and Lack of Honesty with Matilda on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days

The latest installment, Episode 8 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days Season 7, premiered on October 20. The episode showcased a confrontation between Brian and Ingrid, while Sunny discovered that Veah had brought her former partner to South Africa. Meanwhile, Tigerlily returned to the United States, leaving Adnan behind until their next meeting.

Entitled “For Whom the Bell Tolls,”this episode featured Niles proposing to Matilda. However, he did not intend to tie the knot during this visit to Ghana and planned to wait before making that decision. Unbeknownst to Matilda, who assumed they were getting married, she shared her engagement excitement with her friends and family.

Once Niles revealed that he wouldn’t marry her on this trip, Matilda was understandably upset. She questioned how she could explain this situation to her relatives, expressing frustration about his failure to communicate his intentions sooner. Niles apologized for his timing. Fans of 90 Day Fiancé took to X to voice their disapproval of Niles’ actions.

“Did Niles just say he needs more time to understand Matilda better??? If that’s true, he’s not being honest. He should have admitted he doesn’t have the funds for the wedding. Niles is being manipulative,” one commenter expressed.

“She informed her entire family about the wedding? Oh Niles…,” another user remarked.

“Niles should have been upfront. Her family is spending time and money preparing for a wedding. He should never have traveled without clarity first. Engagement should signify certainty,” a third user pointed out.

“I sympathize with Matilda; Niles misled her and now she’s been left humiliated. I’m amazed she managed to maintain her composure and didn’t lash out at him,” another viewer commented.

Numerous viewers of 90 Day Fiancé criticized Niles for pursuing a proposal in Ghana despite knowing he was financially unprepared to marry Matilda.

“My main issue with Niles is that he was aware BEFORE heading to Ghana that he couldn’t afford to marry Matilda as he had promised. She and her loved ones were eagerly anticipating a wedding, and he could have simply been honest,” one user wrote.

“Niles ought to have talked about the wedding BEFORE giving her the ring… This is going to turn into a disaster…,” another X user stated.

“I can relate to Matilda’s disappointment, as Niles assured her he would marry her during his visit to Ghana. She and her family were all excited about the wedding, and now he’s not only letting Matilda down but also her family and friends,” another user added.

“Each time they show Niles and Matilda together, I feel anxious about him breaking the news that he’s not marrying her on this trip,” another user expressed.
