Fans Condemn Knetz for Sending Death Threats to Jessi Amidst Fan Assault Controversy

The response of South Korean rapper Jessi to a recent death threat on Instagram has sparked considerable discussion among her international supporters. She recently faced accusations of concealing the identity of an alleged associate involved in the assault of one of her fans. As reported by Sports Chosun on October 12, a teenage fan approached Jessi for a photograph on September 29, 2024, in Gangnam, Seoul.

Although Jessi turned down the request, a man—reportedly a friend of a producer associated with her—reacted violently, attacking the fan. The “NUNU NANA”artist has denied claims of knowing the aggressor.

On October 23, Jessi took to her Instagram story to address a disturbing comment written in Korean, which urged her to take her own life. The message, translated into English, read:

“The best news would be that she committed su*c*de by taking medicines, that would be good news. So I’ll be waiting for it.”

The harsh reactions from fans globally indicate a strong belief that the vitriol directed at Jessi is completely unwarranted. Supporters have rallied around the artist, condemning the Korean netizens responsible for sending her death threats.

According to the report from Sports Chosun on October 12, an individual connected to a producer close to Jessi reportedly assaulted her teenage fan. The victim claimed during JTBC’s Crime Chief news segment that Jessi remained silent during the incident. Following this, she was called in for questioning at the police station on October 16 at 10 PM KST.

Jessi, the “Cold Blooded”singer, stated that she was unfamiliar with the person who attacked her fan and emphasized that her encounter with the assailant was the first. She has pledged to assist law enforcement in identifying the individual responsible.

On October 12, Jessi reached out on social media to apologize to her followers, reassuring them that she is doing everything possible to identify the perpetrator and seek justice for her fan. On October 23, she reiterated her apology to the victim and his family, expressing remorse for not taking a more active role in protecting her fan.

In a related development, DOD Entertainment decided to terminate Jessi’s exclusive contract on October 18, 2024, after careful consideration regarding her future endeavors.
