Shakira’s anticipated ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour’ is set to commence in February 2025, stirring significant excitement and conversations among fans. Recently, a contingent of Taylor Swift supporters voiced allegations that the Colombian superstar has borrowed several elements from ‘The Eras Tour’ for her own performances.
These comments from Swift’s fans emerged following reports that Shakira’s upcoming tour has surpassed a record previously held by The Eras Tour. Until now, Taylor enjoyed the accolade of four successive sold-out concerts at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City, a record which Shakira has bested with five consecutive sold-out performances.
Social media was abuzz with comments from users asserting that Shakira had imitated the 34-year-old pop icon. Many fans claimed that the creator of ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ and her production team seemed to have mirrored Taylor’s choreography. Below are some of the notable comments circulating on X.
I like Shakira but…why can’t she be at least a BIT original? Well, at least we can acknowledge that The Eras Tour had a SIGNIFICANT impact on future tours.
A user remarked:
“Did she attend The Eras Tour at some point or not?”
“Just imagine if Taylor had been the one to copy another artist; there would have been chaos,”responded another user.
“She also has a jump into the water, lol. I think she and her team studied The Eras Tour to create something new. 🔥🔥🔥🔥”added another tweet.
Despite the wave of criticism directed at Shakira, numerous users rose to her defense. One user tweeted:
“She has such a extensive catalog of hits that are beloved by fans of all generations. Even if she draws influence from Taylor, it doesn’t diminish her accomplishments or legacy.”
“She is a QUEEN and has admiration for Taylor!”commented another supporter.
“Do you genuinely believe Taylor invented everything? Who do you think was behind the stage that transforms into stairs? Madonna did that in 2012. Do your research,”urged a fan.
Shakira had originally announced four concerts at Estadio GNP Seguros, before revealing a fifth
Estadio GNP Seguros reportedly accommodates around 65,000 attendees. The renowned South American singer announced the additional fifth sold-out show on her social media, stating:
“Mexico, my dear, five dates at Estadio GNP… we’ve made history.”
According to The Daily Mail, Shakira had to postpone the North American leg of her world tour to accommodate larger venues instead of arenas. This alteration reportedly displeased fans who had already purchased tickets prior to the changes. On Friday, Shakira addressed her followers on Instagram, noting:
“The demand for tickets and more shows has reached a level that necessitates shifting our tour to stadiums in the U.S. so I can perform for as many of you as possible.”
This forthcoming tour aims to promote Shakira’s twelfth studio album, ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran,’ which was released in March 2024. Notably, this marks her first album launch since ‘El Dorado’ in 2017.
Among the hit singles from this album are “Te Felicito,” “Monotonío,” “Acróstico,” “El Jefe,” and “Copa Vacía.”
