Famous Art Director Park Si-young Responds to HYBE Internal Reports Leak: “I Saw Such Disgusting Stuff”

On October 31, renowned art director Park Si-young took to Instagram to respond to HYBE’s disclosure of the Weekly Music Industry Report during a National Assembly State Audit. In a story post, he expressed his discontent with the report’s contents.

While not explicitly naming the organization, Park did use an image of their logo to underscore his point about the company’s actions and the individuals behind the documents.

According to a fan account on X following NewJeans, Park Si-young’s Instagram declaration stated:

“Ugh… I just caught up on the news and came across some incredibly upsetting material. With over two decades in PR and corporate marketing for large corporations, I’ve never encountered such a poorly constructed, incompetent report.”

He further elaborated on the troubling nature of the trend report, which allegedly included disrespectful remarks about various K-pop idols and groups, deeming it entirely unacceptable. His statement included:

“This disgraceful document—referring to it as a ‘trend report’ is absurd. Even a brand-new employee sharing this in a group chat would lead to trouble. Typically, a trend report should assess potential issues and gauge audience expectations, correct?”

Concluding his remarks, the art director harshly criticized the label’s representatives for their negative perceptions towards lesser-known idols, stating:

“We find incompetent, reckless, and spiteful individuals capitalizing on minors while dominating an industry primarily fueled by a youthful audience. It’s outrageous—an inflated sense of self-worth paired with executives who have lost touch, surrounded by yes-men acting as subordinates. Disgusting!”

HYBE executives reportedly criticized for derogatory comments about minor K-pop idols in internal documents

On October 24, during the National Assembly State Audit, it was revealed that an internal document titled the Weekly Music Industry Report was circulated among top executives.

The National Assembly expressed concerns regarding some of the remarks and insights within the report, which were characterized as derogatory and disrespectful to K-pop idols and groups.

Allegations suggested that company representatives made comments regarding the physical attributes and appeal of underage K-pop artists.

In defense, the COO of HYBE stated that the report merely reflected audience observations posted online when it came under scrutiny during the National Assembly State Audit.

He clarified that the language utilized in the report did not originate directly from the label’s representatives but was instead reflective of netizen opinions. Moreover, the document was intended solely for a limited audience consisting of senior staff members and was not meant for public dissemination.

In a statement on its official website, HYBE confirmed that the internal report was a collection of online feedback. The company pledged to take action against those who selectively leaked provocative excerpts to misrepresent that HYBE had criticized its artists.

Kim Tae-ho, CEO of Belift Lab and COO of HYBE, issued an apology, acknowledging that the report was “inappropriate.”The company asserted its commitment to ensuring such issues do not reoccur in the future.
