On September 27, 2024, several X users, including popular pages like Rap House TV, reported that the rapper Skrilla had allegedly been shot in Chicago. This tweet quickly gained traction, fueling further rumors about the incident. An X user, @BogdanAmr, tweeted on September 28, 2024:

“Skrilla gets shot in Chicago while in Bloodhound territory chilling with Bloodhound Q50 and Brandon Buckingham! They were filming a vlog! The shooter got shot in the head!”

Additionally, the HipHop Lately portal confirmed that the artist was shot in the neck while exiting a studio on the Northwest side of the city. Reports indicated that Skrilla was ambushed by five to six individuals who exited a vehicle and opened fire, leaving him in critical condition.

To dispel the circulating rumors and confirm he was unharmed, the Curtis Jackson rapper went live on Instagram on September 28, 2024, sharing a moment with fans where he was enjoying music in the company of friends. He also uploaded a photo on his Instagram Story that same day accompanied by his track “GOD DAMN.”

Skrilla Shares Music Video for Latest Track on Instagram, Hours After Shooting Rumors Surge

In addition to going live, on September 28, 2024, Skrilla released a music video for his track “Resident,”in collaboration with ETS Films. The post also included behind-the-scenes content, confirming that the rapper was indeed not shot.

Furthermore, he shared a detailed Instagram post on September 24, 2024, reflecting on his album “Underworld,”which was released in February 2024. He expressed how much effort he put into the album, stating that he doubted he could create a project like “Underworld”again.

In a recent interview with DGB Media’s “Off The Porch”dated September 3, 2024, Skrilla talked about his career path and future music releases. He mentioned that his recent trip to Atlanta was his first visit to the area, where he performed at Morehouse College and was surprised by the number of fans who recognized him.

During the interview, there was discussion about the similarities in musical style between Skrilla and artist Baby Kia. Skrilla confirmed that they are likely to collaborate and hinted at a potential joint video release in the near future.

When asked about his family background, he shared that his parents were not together but remained active in his life. He stated:

“They both were in my life. My mom and pop. I had a regular life for real like pop around and my mom around though I got sisters and brothers. Yeah, I got a sister and a brother, one brother though. I’m the oldest of everybody.”

Moreover, the interview explored Skrilla’s roots in Kensington, Philadelphia, referred to as “Zombieland”due to the high prevalence of substance abuse. He acknowledged the worsening situation and shared that tourists would previously come to Kensington just to verify the stories they heard about the area.

In the same interview, Skrilla also emphasized his selective approach to beats. He noted that he sometimes feels guilty when producers present him with numerous beats, but he often does not finalize any due to working according to his mood.
