Fact Check: Did Liam Payne Perform in Spanish for Fans Before His Death? Debunking the Viral Video

Following the tragic passing of former One Direction star Liam Payne, various rumors have begun circulating online. A particular video showing Liam performing a Spanish song, shared by a user named @yankisner on X, has gained significant attention.

This user initially alleged that the footage was recorded just the night prior to Liam’s fatal fall from his hotel room balcony situated on the third floor in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The post that has now gone viral included the following message:

“It’s heartbreaking that this was filmed last night, with Liam Payne singing a Spanish tune to his fans. You can see the sadness in his smile. Rest in peace, angel.”

Once this clip emerged on social media, it quickly spread across the platform, amassing over 7 million views and being reshared more than 8.4K times. Fans of the late artist shared their emotions after viewing this footage, which was alleged to have been taken the night before his passing.

Nevertheless, the claim regarding the timeline of the video is inaccurate, as it was actually filmed on September 30. This correction was made by @yankisner in a subsequent tweet where they stated:

“I just want to clarify that this video gained traction on TikTok today, and I mistakenly thought it was from last night due to the comments, but it’s originally from September 30.”

This clarification is also noted in the community comments of the viral post, which includes a link to the original video from September.

Uncertainty Remains Surrounding Liam Payne’s Death

As of now, the circumstances surrounding the untimely death of 31-year-old Liam Payne are still unclear. He had previously opened up about his battles with mental health and the role alcohol played in his life, as reported by Reuters.

Authorities in Buenos Aires have released an audio clip from their security department, where a hotel staff member can be heard requesting police assistance. The staff member mentioned:

“He’s conscious but is causing chaos in the room; we need someone here.”

They further indicated that the guest was at risk due to the balcony attached to the room. Police were dispatched to the CasaSur Palermo Hotel after receiving reports about an “agitated individual who might be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.”

According to Reuters, when the police arrived, the hotel manager informed them of a loud noise echoing from the inside courtyard. Upon inspecting the location, officers discovered Liam, who appeared to have fallen from the third-floor balcony of his accommodation.

The loss of Liam Payne has left fans and fellow artists in deep sorrow. Violeta Antier, mother of Roberto Antier, recalled seeing Liam at a Niall Horan concert just two weeks before, remarking that he seemed to be doing well.

Charlie Puth also expressed his disbelief at the heartbreaking news, sharing his condolences along with pictures and videos featuring the British singer.
