Exploring WandaVision Filming Locations: Where Was the Show Filmed?
WandaVision, a captivating nine-episode miniseries brought to life by Jac Schaeffer, features acclaimed actors Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen in the iconic roles of Vision and the Scarlet Witch. Set in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame, the narrative intricately explores Wanda’s struggle with the grief of losing Vision. In an attempt to cope, she conjures a mystical Hex over the fictional town of Westview, fabricating an alternate reality where Vision survives. This reality unfolds as a nostalgic sitcom, where the unsuspecting townsfolk unwittingly play their parts.
While Westview is indeed a real town in New Jersey, its portrayal in WandaVision diverges sharply from the actual location. The series was filmed across several sites in the United States, primarily in Georgia, California, and Florida, to create Wanda’s idyllic small-town atmosphere.
Exploring the Filming Locations of WandaVision
1) Warner Bros. Ranch Facilities, Burbank, California
The picturesque neighborhood surrounding Wanda and Vision’s residence at the beginning of the series is based on Blondie Street, located within the Warner Bros. Ranch in Burbank. The exterior of their home is actually one of the prop structures utilised in this scenic spot, which has served as a backdrop for numerous classic films, including Superman, Bewitched, and American Beauty.
2) Trilith Studios, Atlanta, Georgia
Wanda and Vision’s interior scenes, showcasing their life with twins, were filmed at Trilith Studios (formerly Pinewood Atlanta Studios). This facility has hosted several Marvel blockbusters, including Black Panther, Ant-Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
3) Fayetteville, Georgia
The notable sign that sparks Wanda’s Hex is located in Fayette, Georgia, just a stone’s throw from Trilith Studios. Although the scene features a street, the homes in the background have been digitally constructed to give that quintessential small-town feeling.
4) Golden Oak Ranch, Santa Clarita, California
Episode 2, titled “Don’t Touch That Dial”, introduces viewers to the vibrant Downtown Westview, shot at Golden Oak Ranch, a property owned by The Walt Disney Company. Most of the town’s exterior scenes are filmed here, including the Westview Public Library, a cleverly designed prop in the Urban Background District.
5) Kennedy Space Center, Merritt Island, Florida
The S.W.O.R.D. headquarters, as seen from above in Episode 4 “We Interrupt This Program”, is a CGI interpretation of Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39A, near Titusville, Florida, which has hosted SpaceX since 2014.
6) Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta, Georgia
Within the same episode, viewers are taken through the interior of S.W.O.R.D. Headquarters, filmed at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. This significant venue is where Wanda attempts to reclaim her deceased husband’s body, leading to a pivotal and emotional moment in the series. Notably, it ranks as the third-largest convention center in the United States.
7) Bouckaert Farm, Fairburn, Georgia
The temporary S.W.O.R.D. retreat, depicted as being 8 miles from Westview, was filmed at Bouckaert Farm in Fairburn, Georgia. This lush campsite also played a role as Tony Stark’s cabin in the MCU, famously featured during his funeral in Avengers: Endgame.
8) Meadow View, Williamson, Georgia
In an episode titled “All-New Halloween Spooktacular”, Wanda is seen navigating the eerie streets of Westview on Halloween night. These scenes were filmed on Highpoint Court and Rolling Hill Drive in Williamson, Georgia, a small community with a population of just over 680, according to the 2020 census.
