With the exciting new season of Overwatch 2 just around the corner, fans are buzzing with anticipation about the upcoming new Hero in Overwatch 2. Currently, there is no definitive information about the identity or abilities of this new Hero. However, much speculation has arisen based on details revealed by the developers during Blizzcon 2023.

This article aims to provide players with an in-depth preview of the latest Hero that may soon arrive in Overwatch 2. Continue reading to find out more.

What class could the newest Hero in Overwatch 2 belong to?

Although there is no official confirmation yet, a significant number of players speculate that the forthcoming Hero in Overwatch 2 might be a Tank. This speculation largely stems from footage presented at the Blizzcon 2023 event.

At Blizzcon 2023, developers highlighted three characters that are currently in development and set for release leading up to Overwatch 2 Season 12. These characters include Mauga, Juno, and Venture. Additionally, the footage displayed placeholder icons for even more Heroes expected in upcoming seasons.

One of these icons appeared within the Tank Hero selection screen. Although the visual representation of the icon remains unclear, there’s considerable speculation suggesting that the new Hero might indeed belong to the Tank class.

Tanks in Overwatch 2 serve as the frontline assets. They create strategic space for their team, secure territories, and offer utilities that enable their teammates to advance. Observing the trends of new Hero releases since the game’s inception, it appears increasingly likely that a Tank Hero is under development for future seasons.

Given that Juno will be released in OW2 Season 12, it is likely that the introduction of a new Hero won’t occur until at least Season 14. There is still much to uncover regarding Juno’s capabilities, in addition to the developers’ need to implement a series of balance updates within the game.

Moreover, the 6v6 playlist format is currently in transition, and we feel that the introduction of a brand-new Hero will only take place after these matters are addressed first.
