Season 6 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way premiered a new episode on Monday, September 30, 2024. In episode 14, titled Reality Frights, cast members Corona and Ingi discussed the future of their relationship. While Ingi maintained a calm attitude and was content with their current pace, Corona expressed concerns about sacrificing her dreams of becoming a midwife.
In the previous episode, Corona visited the only midwifery school in Iceland to gather information about their eligibility criteria and admission requirements. Following her meeting with the program’s director, the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star learned that she not only needed to master the Icelandic language but also had to wait a minimum of a year and a half for the applications to open.
Corona admitted that her conversation with the director had demotivated her and made her reconsider her decision to move to Iceland without sufficient planning. In the latest episode, she attempted to explain her challenges to Ingi but was frustrated by his seemingly indifferent attitude, as he assured her that things would ultimately improve. This led her to question whether he truly cared about her aspirations.
90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star Corona believes her career path will influence her personal life
In the prior episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Corona sought guidance regarding her career from a group of Black individuals living in Iceland. She was curious whether her midwifery degree from an Ivy League university would enhance her employment opportunities. However, the group members unanimously informed her that her qualifications wouldn’t matter much if she didn’t speak Icelandic.
This revelation concerned Corona, as she was only familiar with basic Icelandic and not fluent enough to communicate with native speakers. In episode 14, she elaborated on her situation to Ingi, hoping for his support. Yet, his casual responses left her unsettled. Corona expressed that becoming a midwife was a key ambition in her life.
While enjoying a soak in a hot tub, Ingi asked Corona about her meeting with the director.
“Basically she said I wouldn’t be able to start; at best like a year and a half, but most likely, like, two and a half years, until I can start the program and I think she was stressing the importance of me needing to know the language,”Corona explained.
Ingi concurred that learning the language was essential but suggested it would not be a barrier, given that she was already studying it. However, Corona disagreed, insisting that the situation was more complex than it appeared. She expressed concern that the stress could negatively affect her mood and, in turn, impact her relationship with Ingi.
Ingi found her viewpoint troubling and remarked, “You’re painting a pretty dark reality, here.”Speaking to the cameras, he remarked:
“I am really surprised that she would have to wait two and a half years, but then again, like, I think we haven’t explored all avenues. She just moved here. I still see a way that this can all work out.”
He queried Corona about possibly working at a hospital in some nursing capacity. While she acknowledged she could do “other nurse stuff,”she made it clear that it was not her area of expertise or passion. Nonetheless, Ingi suggested it could be part of her journey while she awaited her midwifery ambitions to materialize.
He attempted to boost her spirits by stating, “Good things happen slowly,”but Corona felt otherwise. She revealed her impatience and emphasized her desire to kickstart her career as soon as possible.
“There is a thin line between coming off very, like, chill and confident that things would work out and just not giving a damn. I don’t need him to just tell me everything is gonna be okay,”Corona expressed.
Corona anticipated Ingi would help her seek solutions to her dilemma rather than merely offering reassurances. She confessed that she could not feel “happy and fulfilled in life”without achieving her goal of becoming a midwife. She was disheartened that Ingi failed to recognize the significance of her aspirations.
In her reflections to the cameras, Corona revealed she was starting to question her choices that led her to Iceland. She felt more invested in their relationship than Ingi seemed to be. Feeling trapped in a challenging situation, Corona wondered what the future would hold for their relationship.
