Exploring the Connection: Is Yvett Garcia Involved with Pink Friday Nails, Nicki Minaj’s Press-On Nail Brand?

Nicki Minaj has firmly established herself as an irreplaceable figure in the rap industry. Over the past 15 years, she has released five studio albums, completed four world tours, and collaborated with numerous esteemed rappers and singers worldwide.

In addition to her accomplishments as a rapper, Nicki is a powerful businesswoman. Earlier this year, the “Only”rapper launched her press-on nail brand – Pink Friday Nails.

Pink Friday Nails is developed by the rapper in collaboration with her longtime nail artist, Yvett Garcia. According to Cosmetic Business, Garcia has played a crucial role in designing the press-on collection and oversees the production of the brand.

Yvett Garcia: Creative Director of Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday Nails

In an Instagram post shared on September 23, Pink Friday Nails featured an image of Yvett Garcia at Minaj’s concert, highlighting her as the “Creative Director”of the brand.

In a May 2024 interview with Essence, Garcia expressed her close relationship with Nicki Minaj, stating:

“I started doing her nails about 5 years ago. When she decided to launch Pink Friday, she knew she wanted me to be involved.”

Garcia also mentioned that the idea for the press-on nail brand came to the Anaconda rapper shortly after the birth of her son in 2020, adding:

“She recognized a unique opportunity for press-on nails that were different from anything else available.”

According to a statement from Pink Friday Nails, the brand aims to address a gap in the nail market by “bridging the divide between low-cost options with inferior quality and custom sets offered by nail artists on social media for hundreds of dollars.”

Pink Friday Nails Featured in The New York Post

On Wednesday, October 2, Nicki Minaj posted on Instagram celebrating the achievements of Pink Friday Nails. The first photo in her post was a screenshot of a text message from her press-on nail brand team, detailing the significant milestones the brand has recently reached.

Aside from receiving accolades from NYLON and Elle magazines, Pink Friday Nails was also featured by The New York Post four months ago.

On May 2, 2024, The New York Post published an article highlighting 2024 as the year of press-on nails, praising Nicki Minaj as a celebrity known for her extensive use of false nails, with Pink Friday Nails discussed towards the end of the piece.

The media outlet shared the Swalla rapper’s insights on the motivation for launching her press-on nail brand, where she stated:

“Once I became a mom, I couldn’t dedicate as much time to getting my nails done as I once did when I only needed to worry about myself, so creating stylish, high-quality press-on nails became essential.”

Minaj elaborated:

“I told my team when we launched Pink Friday Nails that if I don’t want to wear them, I won’t even try to sell them, because our customers aren’t naive.”

Revealing her small nail beds, the Young Money artist assured her fans that the products available at Pink Friday Nails are “actual nails,”adding:

“Pink Friday Nails are the ACTUAL nails I wear, designed by my ACTUAL nail tech. I have SMALL nail beds, so usually, press-ons are too large and don’t fit properly. Our nails come in all lengths from short to the longest I wear, and in ALL shapes, sizes, and polishes.”

The article also mentioned Mari by Marsai – another press-on nail brand launched two years ago by actress and film producer Marsai Martin.

Currently, Nicki Minaj is on the North American leg of her fourth headlining tour – the Pink Friday 2 tour – which will conclude in Elmont, New York, on October 11.
