Nina Dobrev and her long-term partner Shaun White have officially announced their engagement. The Olympic athlete orchestrated a surprise proposal for the star of Vampire Diaries in New York City.
In an exclusive feature by Vogue, released on October 30, White shared that he had contemplated the proposal multiple times, including while on a summer getaway. Unfortunately, those plans fell through when Dobrev suffered an injury from a dirt bike accident. He also considered proposing during their trip to Cape Town for the Earthshot Prize Ceremony but ultimately decided against it, believing that Dobrev might suspect the engagement was imminent.
Then, on a Friday evening in October, Shaun White orchestrated a ruse involving a dinner with Anna Wintour as a cover for the engagement. At the Golden Swan restaurant, he presented Dobrev with a stunning five-carat Lorraine Schwartz ring, and she happily accepted. For several days, they kept the engagement news private, with Dobrev discreetly removing her ring whenever she went out.
However, on October 30, shortly after the Vogue engagement article was published, she took to social media to share the joyous news. In her Instagram post, the actress revealed behind-the-scenes images from the proposal, showcasing her in a dazzling little black Chanel dress, while her fiancé wore an all-black suit from Ralph Lauren. She kept her caption succinct, stating:
“RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé.”
