Despite the lead single, “Woman’s World,”achieving a measure of success, the album has garnered largely unfavorable reviews from critics. Nevertheless, Katy Perry’s collaborative efforts have consistently enhanced her musical journey over the years.

Throughout her career, she has worked with celebrated artists including Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, and Snoop Dogg. Such partnerships have enabled her to diversify her sound and inject fresh energy into her music.

Collaboration with Timbaland: “If We Ever Meet Again”(2009)

One of her initial major collaborations was with Timbaland for the track “If We Ever Meet Again,”which debuted on December 1, 2009. Timbaland, a significant figure in the music industry, has previously worked with giants like Justin Timberlake, Madonna, and Nelly Furtado, playing crucial roles in their successes.

This single saw success in charts across the globe, reaching the top ranks in the Czech Republic and New Zealand, and landing in the top ten in several other countries including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

Collaboration with Snoop Dogg: “California Gurls”(2010)

The following year, Perry teamed up with rapper Snoop Dogg to release “California Gurls.”Released on May 7, 2010, this track received acclaim from critics and dominated the Billboard Hot 100 chart for six straight weeks.

Working with Missy Elliott and Kanye West (2011)

2011 proved to be a fruitful year for Perry, as she released “Last Friday Night”and “ET,”collaborating with Missy Elliott and Kanye West, respectively. “Last Friday Night,”released on June 6, 2011, became a viral sensation, particularly after adding Missy Elliott to the original version, which resulted in a remarkable 25% increase in sales.

This track made history by making Perry the first female solo artist to achieve five number-one singles from a single album on the Billboard Hot 100.

“ET,”on the other hand, benefited from Kanye West’s contributions and became widely popular. Released on February 11, 2011, the song was crafted with the help of her long-time collaborators Dr. Luke, Max Martin, and pop icon Ammo.

Duet with John Mayer and Juicy J (2013)

On August 12, 2013, Perry showcased her romantic relationship with singer John Mayer through the track “Who You Love,”featured on Mayer’s album, Paradise Valley. This country-infused ballad resonated with fans, further highlighting their love story.

The music video, directed by Sophie Muller, featured various real couples and garnered an impressive 49 million views on YouTube.

In the same year, Perry collaborated with Juicy J on the hit “Dark Horse,”released as part of her 2013 album Prism. Work with Nicki Minaj and Skip Marley (2017)

Perry’s collaboration with Nicki Minaj on the dance track “Swish Swish,”released on May 19, 2017, became a dance anthem, although it received mixed critical responses. Some reviewers applauded its overall feel, while others criticized the lyrical content.

Additionally, she partnered with Skip Marley, Bob Marley’s grandson, on the politically charged single “Chained to the Rhythm,”released in February 2017. This song, which served as the lead for her fifth studio album Witness, sparked discussions on societal issues including awareness and exploitation.

Katy Perry and Zedd’s “365”(2019)

One of her latest notable collaborations came with German producer Zedd for “365,”which was unveiled on Valentine’s Day in 2019. The track became a moderate success worldwide, topping charts in countries like Bulgaria and Israel.

For her significant contributions to music, Katy Perry was recently awarded the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2024 MTV Music Awards.
