Exploring Diddy’s Feud with Kanye West Originating from White Lives Matter T-Shirts

Throughout his extensive career spanning over thirty years in the music business, Diddy has established himself as a prominent rapper, actor, and entrepreneur. The founder of Bad Boy Records seemed to enjoy a flourishing career in all aspects of his life until 2023, when his former partner, Cassie Ventura, initiated a lawsuit against him for alleged sexual abuse.

This legal action opened the floodgates for additional abuse claims, ultimately resulting in investigators raiding his residences in Los Angeles and Miami in March 2024. As the serious sex trafficking allegations swirl around the hip-hop mogul, his previous controversies are being revisited in the media.

One particular dispute ignited between Diddy and Kanye West in October 2022, following the release of West’s provocative “White Lives Matter”t-shirts. Until that point, the creator of “Satisfy You”had stood by West during various questionable actions, but this latest incident proved to be the tipping point in their relationship.

Let’s take a closer look at the events that transpired between these two artists in 2022.

Kanye shared screenshots of Diddy’s messages on Instagram

When Kanye West unveiled his “White Lives Matter”merchandise, Diddy was among the first public figures to publicly challenge it. However, before making any public statements, he tried to communicate his concerns directly with West.

After their conversation over the phone, West texted Diddy expressing his dissatisfaction with their exchange, stating:

“I’m selling these tees. Nobody gets in between me and my money. This is my grandfather texting you now. Never call me with no bulls*** like that again unless you’re ready to green light me. Cause anybody who got on that tee is me.”

The messages didn’t end there; West’s text went on:

“Out of respect for everything you’ve meant to me I’ll remain silent as Virgil. Now I understand how my threats have affected those I love.”

Further exacerbating the situation, Kanye posted these text exchanges on his Instagram, including a mocking follow-up that read:

“Come do something illegal to me noooow pleeeeeeeeease.”

Diddy, trying to de-escalate the situation out of the public eye, sent West a message saying:

“N***a send me an address. Let’s stop playing these internet games. And don’t feel threatened. You’ll be alright. Just love.”

West later shared another screenshot that revealed additional messages, where he stated:

“This ain’t a game…. I’m going to use you as an example to show the Jewish people that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me. I told you this was war. Now go handle your business.”

As the images started to go viral, Diddy felt compelled to carefully consider his next steps, yet he remained firm and responded:

“I’m just trying to talk to you as a black man. And I’m reaching out because this is affecting our community. Stop.”

Kanye remained resolute, countering with a response that illustrated his determination:

“Anything you text I will post. I love you. And you guys are breaking my heart. Consider this my preemptive acceptance of your apology.”

This marked the end of the exchanged texts shared by the “All Falls Down”artist. According to reports from Daily Mail, Diddy went on to describe West’s controversial t-shirts as “tone-deaf”during his interview on The Breakfast Club later that year.

West declined to meet Diddy backstage in 2024

Following a period of silence between them, Diddy made an appearance at Kanye’s concert in March 2024, which featured Ty Dolla $ign, bringing his sons along. This move was seen as an opportunity for the rap mogul to mend their relationship.

However, it was reported by TMZ that West had no intention of reconnecting. Diddy expressed his wish to meet with Ye in person backstage, but Kanye declined the offer for a face-to-face encounter.

A month later, West collaborated with Kendrick Lamar on the diss track “Like That,”featuring Kanye’s verse that targeted Diddy with the line:

“Can’t stop, won’t stop/ I just f***** your b**** in a Sean John tank top.”

Recently, Diddy was arrested on September 16 and is currently held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, awaiting his trial.
