Exploring the Filming Locations of Time Cut
The filming of Time Cut predominantly took place in Manitoba. Principal photography kicked off on July 6, 2021, and was completed by August of the same year. Below is an overview of the various locations where this Netflix sci-fi film was shot.
Winnipeg, Manitoba
A significant portion of Time Cut was filmed in Winnipeg and its neighboring towns. As the capital of Manitoba, Winnipeg is a favored filming location thanks to its rich variety of landscapes that range from bustling urban environments to charming small-town scenery, enhancing the film’s tense and thrilling atmosphere.
The shopping mall featured in the movie’s trailer, showcasing a large clock and escalators, is the Portage Place shopping center located at 393 Portage Avenue. Since filming occurred during the COVID-19 lockdown, the crew managed to film eerie sequences in the abandoned mall setting where the killer pursues one of the victims.
However, shooting during the lockdown posed challenges, particularly in coordinating the involvement of hundreds of extras, all of whom had to undergo COVID-19 testing and adhere to stringent health protocols.
Selkirk, Manitoba
Located northeast of Winnipeg, Selkirk features a picturesque city landscape and plays a key role in Time Cut.
The Selkirk Lift Bridge, which crosses over the Red River, is prominently featured in several scenes of the film, including thrilling moments involving a police car in pursuit and Lucy sprinting across the bridge. This historic vertical-lift bridge was built during the Great Depression as a public works initiative.
Stonewall, Manitoba
Another important filming site for Time Cut was Stonewall, situated to the north of Winnipeg, where numerous exterior shots were captured for the film.
The high school attended by Summer in the film is represented by Collège Stonewall Collegiate, located at 297 5 Street West in Stonewall. Since filming coincided with summer break and the lockdown, the production team enjoyed unobstructed access to the school premises.
Stonewall is a well-known filming destination, having hosted several productions, including Silent Night, Winner, and Lifetime’s The Girl Who Escaped: The Kara Robinson Story.
Don’t miss Netflix’s exciting blend of sci-fi thrills and teenage drama in Time Cut, premiering on October 30, 2024, on the platform.
