
Discover Fellowship: An Upcoming Multiplayer Online Adventure Game
Independent developer Chief Rebel, based in Stockholm, in collaboration with publisher Arc Games, has unveiled their upcoming title, Fellowship. This exciting ‘Multiplayer Online Adventure Game’ (MODA) will open its doors for players via a Public Playtest during the Steam Next Fest, which runs from February 24 to March 3. Gameplay Features and Hero Roster
The playtest will provide access to servers in North America, Europe, and Asia. Players will be able to select from six heroes, which include two Tanks, two DPS (one of them being the newly introduced Tariq), and two Healers. Participants can embark on dungeon runs in both Ranked and Quick Play modes, facing off against formidable foes to secure epic loot.
Fellowship’s dungeon mechanics draw inspiration from traditional MMORPGs, adhering to the well-known Holy Trinity of Tank, DPS, and Healer roles. However, the game narrows its focus primarily on dungeon experiences, eschewing open-world and narrative elements in favor of enhancing the cooperative gameplay. Additionally, “Curses, ”which are rotating gameplay modifiers, add an extra layer of challenge and replayability across different difficulties and dungeons.
Combat Mechanics and Visuals
As an avid MMORPG player, I recognize the basis of Fellowship’s concept but feel its execution could benefit from innovation. The game’s tab-target combat system, reminiscent of systems used in MMORPGs for decades, lacks dynamism and can be compared unfavorably to titles like World of Warcraft. Although the dungeon mechanics are engaging, the combat needs revitalization; a shift towards action or a hybrid system similar to those in Guild Wars 2 or The Elder Scrolls Online may enhance the overall experience.
Moreover, despite being developed using Unreal Engine 5, the graphics have not made a significant impression. The aesthetic choices appear to adhere closely to the Blizzard style, prioritizing compatibility over groundbreaking visuals. Players may find themselves more compelled by gameplay than by graphics in Fellowship.

What’s the core premise behind your game?
In many MMOs, complex PvE content is hidden behind extensive leveling-up processes. We aim for Fellowship to be accessible for newcomers while also offering quick gameplay for veterans.
I see there’s a kill score count. Can you explain what it does?
The kill score indicates the total enemies required to defeat during a dungeon run. Players must engage with various foes to achieve a 100% completion of this score, ensuring the challenge is both strategic and comprehensive.
Competitive Elements and Progression Systems
The game integrates a timer upon reaching higher dungeon difficulties, adding competitive nature to leaderboard placements. The time taken to complete a dungeon can determine rankings, particularly in later stages where milliseconds can make a difference.
Each hero will feature 15 abilities, which players unlock progressively as they navigate higher challenges. Current mechanics promote both cooperative play and individual skill optimization, with integrated metrics to benchmark player performance effectively.
Dungeon Variety and Loot Systems
Fellowship offers diverse dungeon experiences, from standard multi-boss encounters to faster single-boss adventures. Players can engage in 10 to 30 minute runs, making the content suitable for various play styles and time commitments. The loot system also emphasizes transmutation, allowing players to transform unwanted items into more desirable gear as they progress.
Can you discuss the various dungeons and boss fights?
As dungeon difficulty escalates, bosses evolve their abilities, enhancing the challenge. Players can designate routes and strategies, optimizing their party’s approach to defeating formidable foes.
Community Engagement and Future Plans
The developers are receptive to community feedback, aiming to fine-tune features post-launch. Plans for monetization include a premium pricing model with potential for cosmetic microtransactions, such as skins and pets, without compromising core gameplay content.
What about larger group content, like raids?
While not available at launch, discussions about introducing raid content are underway. Ensuring balanced four-player dungeon experiences will be prioritized before expanding to larger group dynamics.
