Kim Soo-hyun, well-known for his role in “Queen of Tears, ”has recently found himself at the center of a storm of controversy—not due to a new project, but rather through allegations concerning the tragic death of fellow South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron.
Kim Sae-ron tragically took her own life on February 16, 2025, at the tender age of 24. As her colleagues and fans expressed their sorrow, the Garoseoro Research Institute released claims suggesting a darker narrative involving Kim Soo-hyun. Reports allege that the two actors were involved in a long-term relationship that lasted six years, leading to accusations of emotional and abusive dynamics.
Controversially, it is purported that their relationship began when Kim Sae-ron was only 15 and Soo-hyun was 27. Evidence provided includes intimate photographs reportedly showing the couple together. The relationship reportedly came to an end following Sae-ron’s DUI incident in 2022.
Despite both parties emphatically denying any romantic link for years, Sae-ron briefly shared images on her Instagram, including one where she and Soo-hyun are seen sharing a close moment. Following her passing, her family revealed a letter penned by Sae-ron in March 2023, which confirmed their relationship from November 19, 2015, until July 7, 2021.
In an unsettling development, Sae-ron’s family also disclosed a photograph purportedly showing Soo-hyun washing dishes at her residence, further intensifying the scrutiny surrounding their past interactions.
Kim Sae-ron’s Financial Struggles
According to emerging information, Soo-hyun pursued legal action against Sae-ron in 2024 over financial matters linked to her agency, Gold Medalist. Text messages believed to be from Sae-ron indicate deep distress regarding the situation. In these messages, she acknowledges her debt stemming from Gold Medalist’s financial setbacks and expresses desperation in being unable to repay the considerable sum of 700 million won in immediate terms.
Sae-ron’s family has stated that she attempted multiple times to reach out to Soo-hyun for support, but received no response. Her aunt has gone so far as to suggest that the pressure from financial obligations may have contributed significantly to Sae-ron’s demise.
Gold Medalist’s Response
Gold Medalist has publicly refuted the severe allegations made by Garoseoro regarding their client and Kim Soo-hyun.“The rumors surrounding Kim Soo-hyun’s dating history are entirely unfounded. We are unaware of Kim Sae-ron’s motivations for sharing those images, ”stated the agency. They claim that Soo-hyun and Sae-ron only began their relationship after she turned 18 in the summer of 2019.
While expressing condolences to Sae-ron’s family, the agency urged the public to cease spreading personal information and suggested a private meeting with Sae-ron’s mother. The actress’ mother responded harshly, accusing Gold Medalist of slandering Sae-ron by labeling her actions as reckless.

The backlash against Kim Soo-hyun has been intense. Following the allegations, many fans have renounced their support for him, leading to a notable decrease in his social media following. Criticism of his past statements has proliferated online, reflecting mounting societal outrage.

Consequently, several brands previously associated with Soo-hyun, including K-beauty line Dinto and retail entities such as Tous les Jours, have severed ties with him, further amplifying the fallout. Reports indicate that his advertisements are being swiftly removed across various platforms.

Known for its far-right stance and independent media approach, this YouTube channel has frequently reported on celebrities and political figures. However, it has also been criticized for sensationalism and has faced legal action for defamation and harassment related to its often controversial content.
