  • A newly released image showcases Emily Rudd as Nami, alongside Jacob Romero’s Usopp and Taz Skylar’s Santi, all in anime-inspired attire.
  • In this live-action adaptation, Nami’s iconic look is preserved, reflecting her character’s essence from the earlier story arc.

One Piece is gearing up for another exhilarating season, and fans are buzzing with anticipation. The latest promotional materials highlight a beloved character in a costume that closely resembles their anime version.

Netflix’s live-action rendition of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece received critical acclaim upon its release in 2023, particularly for its fidelity to the source material. This dedication to authenticity extends into the upcoming season, as seen in a recent photo that features fan-favorite characters donning outfits inspired directly by the anime.

The recent snapshot circulating on social media caught the attention of devoted followers, showcasing Nami (played by Emily Rudd) in a costume that mirrors her animated counterpart. Usopp (portrayed by Jacob Romero) and Santi (Taz Skylar) also sport similarly accurate outfits. While Iñaki Godoy and Mackenyu, cast as Monkey D. Luffy and Roronoa Zoro, respectively, appeared in their Season 1 costumes, which prompted more focus on Nami, Usopp, and Santi. In the image, Rudd’s vibrant orange hair complements her blue-green top and black skort adorned with rings. She completes her look with brown boots and a stylish sling bag. Romero embodies Usopp’s character with a striking purple sleeveless top, complemented by a matching bandana and red pants, while Skylar fits right into Santi’s persona with his blue shirt and black trousers.

While many fans appreciated the authenticity of the costumes, some noted a more reserved portrayal of Nami, as her character’s attire in the live-action adaptation is less revealing compared to the anime series. Diana Cilliers, the costume designer for One Piece, explained to Business Insider that this choice was intentional, aimed at maintaining the character’s innocence and nurturing qualities.“Nami in the live-action is depicted as a big sister figure, ”Cilliers elaborated, emphasizing her role as a supportive character rather than someone who seeks attention through elaborate outfits.

Despite the modifications to Nami’s appearance, the essence of her character is still preserved. For example, in Season 1, Nami sported an orange-and-white striped shirt that echoed her anime counterpart yet was adjusted for a modern look with a more subtle color palette. This pragmatic approach, including functional rings on her skirt for small tools, aligns well with Nami’s character as a resourceful thief. While the production favors less saturated colors, these stylistic choices endow Rudd’s Nami with a relatable and grounded appearance, moving away from the often exaggerated aesthetics of anime.

One Piece Season 2 is anticipated to premiere later this year or in early 2026, keeping fans excited for what unfolds next.
