Valve has made a noteworthy announcement concerning its Steam platform, revealing an expansion of its Daily Deals initiative. The change will increase the number of games available in this promotion from four to six, as disclosed in a comprehensive blog post on February 26. This decision not only enriches the daily offerings but also emphasizes the significant impact of the program on smaller game developers.
Since its launch in 2003, Steam has experienced remarkable growth, transforming into a leading marketplace for PC gamers. Despite facing tough rivals like Epic Games Store and GOG, Steam consistently breaks its own records for concurrent users. This success can be attributed to various factors including regular updates, significant seasonal sales, and innovative features, making it a go-to platform for gamers seeking both blockbuster titles and hidden indie treasures.
Expansion of Steam’s Daily Deals: From Four to Six
For independent developers, standing out in Steam’s extensive library can often be a daunting challenge. Similarly, for gamers, uncovering fresh and distinctive titles tailored to their preferences poses its own set of difficulties. Valve’s recent decision to expand its Daily Deals program to feature six titles aims to address these challenges by enhancing visibility for developers and facilitating player discovery of new games. In their announcement, Valve noted that in 2024, the Daily Deals have significantly boosted the visibility of thousands of games on the Steam homepage, featuring 2, 843 titles from a diverse range of 1, 160 developers and publishers.

To continue promoting both new and established titles, Valve’s upcoming update will further amplify the Daily Deals program by introducing six titles daily. Nevertheless, with various sales happening throughout the year, some users still find it challenging to locate these Daily Deals. When accessing the Steam platform, players will see a “Featured & Recommended”section, but the Daily Deals are actually displayed under “Special Offers, ”complete with a “Today’s deal”label. It’s important to note that while these deals are prominently featured for a day, they may remain available for longer durations.
At present, there is no defined timeline for when Steam will transition to the expanded Daily Deals format, as the platform currently continues to showcase only four games. However, with the recent unveiling of the full Steam sale calendar for 2025, gamers have much to anticipate. Significant discounts are on the horizon, including the Spring sale starting on March 13, followed by the eagerly awaited Summer sale commencing June 26.
