AdHoc Studio Unveils Release Date for Dispatch: A Unique Superhero Comedy
In an exciting announcement yesterday, AdHoc Studio revealed that their highly anticipated game, Dispatch, will officially launch on October 22. This ‘superhero workplace comedy’ will be available for PC via Steam and PlayStation 5, featuring a nostalgic bi-weekly episodic format reminiscent of Telltale’s classic storytelling, with players receiving two episodes each week, culminating in a total of four episodes.
A Team with Telltale Roots
AdHoc Studio is spearheaded by former developers from Telltale Studios, including writers known for creating acclaimed titles such as The Wolf Among Us and Tales from the Borderlands. This rich background sets high expectations for the narrative-driven gameplay that fans have come to cherish.
Step into the Shoes of Mecha Man
In Dispatch, players assume the role of Robert Robertson, a once-mighty superhero also known as Mecha Man. After losing his mech-suit in a fierce confrontation, Robertson finds himself in an unexpected position—working as a dispatcher at a superhero management center, rather than engaging directly in combat. His journey includes rehabilitating a team of former supervillains while navigating complex office dynamics and ultimately striving to reconstruct his mech-suit for a chance at vengeance.
A Game of Choices and Strategy
Dispatch brings a rich layer of strategic gameplay, wherein player decisions significantly impact the unfolding narrative. Each choice made by the player influences relationships with various heroes, their allegiances, and the trajectory of Robertson’s story. A strategic map allows for the review of ongoing emergencies, letting players deploy heroes—be they capable or not—to tackle these challenges.
Moreover, managing these heroes goes beyond simply utilizing their powers. Each character carries quirks, weaknesses, and personal history that players must acknowledge to maintain team cohesion. Upgrading skills and unlocking unique abilities will be essential for enhancing effectiveness on the battlefield.
Star-Studded Voice Cast and Pricing Details
The game boasts an impressive voice cast, featuring Aaron Paul (known for Breaking Bad and Westworld) as Robert Robertson. The lineup also includes talent from various successful franchises, such as Jeffrey Wright (The Batman), Matthew Mercer (Critical Role), and Laura Bailey (The Last of Us Part II).The cost for the full season is set at $30, with a Deluxe Edition available for $40, which includes a digital artbook and four digital comics. For those eager to try it out, a demo is currently available for PC users on Steam.
As the gaming landscape continues to evolve, Dispatch seems poised to carve out its unique niche within the superhero genre, blending humor, strategy, and compelling storytelling.
