Ex-NFL CB Vontae Davis dead, cause of death unknown
According to Chester Frazier, assistant coach at the University of Illinois, former Indianapolis Colts cornerback Vontae Davis has passed away at the age of 35. Frazier, who knew Davis from his time in college, confirmed the sad news of the former NFL veteran’s death.
Currently, the inquiry is occurring at the residence of Adaline Davis, mother of Vontae Davis, in Southwest Ranches, Florida. Reports indicate that a male body was discovered at the property and no evidence of wrongdoing was found. While the police have not officially confirmed Davis’ passing in their statement, Chester Frazier announced it on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating:
“#illinination we lost a great today!!! RIP TO @vontaedavis man nothing but good memories of that dude in school!!! Praying for the Davis family!!”
Despite initial speculation on social media that it was an April Fools’ Day prank, it has been confirmed that Davis’ death is indeed true. However, the cause of death has yet to be disclosed.

Vontae Davis’ Professional Football Journey
The Miami Dolphins selected Vontae Davis as the 25th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons playing for the AFC East team before being traded to the Indianapolis Colts.
In 2014, Davis joined the Colts on a four-year $36 million contract and remained with the team for six seasons. Following his release from the Colts, he briefly played for the Bills in 2018 before announcing his retirement in 2019.
Davis had a successful 10-year career in the NFL, recording 344 solo tackles, 51 assisted tackles, 2.0 sacks, one fumble recovery, and 22 interceptions. He was also selected for the Pro Bowl twice during his time in the league.
