Many trainers embarking on their journey in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet will first encounter Rookidee, a charming Flying-type Pokémon known for evolving into the formidable Corviknight. This Pokémon has been part of various games, with its predecessors like Pidgeot and Talonflame offering players early-game aerial companions. Although Pokemon Scarlet & Violet does not introduce a new bird Pokémon, it prominently features Corviknight, first seen in Pokemon Sword & Shield.
Updated on January 20, 2025 by Renri Seong: Rookidee, a petite Flying-type, evolves into the powerful dual Flying/Steel-type, Corviknight. First appearing in Generation 8, these Pokémon have returned in Generation 9, and players in the Paldea region are keen to discover their capabilities in the new game. This guide has been revised to help players locate Rookidee and navigate its evolution into Corviknight effectively.
Where to Find Rookidee in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Rookidee & Corvisquire Locations

Players can catch Rookidee and its evolution, Corvisquire, early in their adventure. These Pokémon are primarily found in the South Province (Area One, Three, Five), as well as the East Province (Area One, Two, Three). For a better chance, seek Rookidee in East Province (Area Three), located directly east of Mesagoza, near the Stony Cliff Titan.
It’s important to note that if you haven’t earned any gym badges, captured Pokémon will obey commands only up to level 20. Rookidee typically appears at levels 15-16 in South Province (Area Three). Occasionally, trainers might spot a group of Rookidee with a Corvisquire, providing an alternative for those looking to skip the evolution process.
Additionally, Rookidee and Corvisquire can be acquired through Tera Raids:
- Rookidee: Available in 1-star Tera Raids
- Corvisquire: Available in 3-star Tera Raids (unlocks after obtaining three gym badges)
How to Evolve Rookidee into Corvisquire and Corviknight
Rookidee Evolution Level

To transform Rookidee into Corviknight, players must first evolve it into Corvisquire at level 18. Corvisquire then evolves into Corviknight at level 38. Using Exp. Candies (M, L, XL) is an effective way to accelerate this leveling process.
Alternatively, Corviknight can be caught in 5-star and 6-star Tera Raids. The 5-star Raids unlock once “The Way Home”main quest is completed, while 6-star Raids become available postgame after finishing the Academy Ace Tournament and clearing some Tera Raids. Players will receive a notification from Jacq when the 6-star Tera Raids are accessible.
Fixed Corviknight Location

Interestingly, Corviknight’s Pokédex entry lists its habitat as “HABITAT UNKNOWN.”However, players can find a wild Terastallized Corviknight in North Province (Area Two), specifically east of the Firescourge Shrine, which is also home to the legendary Pokémon Chi-Yu. This Corviknight is a Fighting Tera-type, and trainers can alter its Tera Type at the Treasure Eatery in Medali.

Corviknight Stats & Type Effectiveness

Corviknight distinguishes itself from its evolutionary predecessors by being a dual Flying/Steel-type. This classification grants it access to moves that can counteract types that are typically resistant to Flying attacks, albeit at the cost of increased vulnerabilities.
Statistically, Corviknight excels in Defense, making it more suitable as a defensive wall rather than an offensive powerhouse:
HP: | 98 |
---|---|
Attack: | 87 |
Special Attack: | 53 |
Defense: | 105 |
Special Defense: | 85 |
Speed: | 67 |
Total: | 495 |
Due to its low Special Attack base, focus on physical moves rather than special attacks. For instance, having Corviknight learn Steel Wing is preferable over the special move, Flash Cannon. A beneficial move for enhancing defense is Iron Defense.
The ideal Nature for Corviknight is Impish (+Def, -Sp. Attk); however, trainers may also opt for a Careful (+Sp. Def, -Sp. Attk) Nature. Generally, the Impish Nature is favored for maximized effectiveness in battle.
Understanding Corviknight’s strengths and weaknesses can significantly improve your battle strategy:
Super-effective against: | Grass, Bug, Fighting, Rock, Fairy, Ice |
---|---|
Weaknesses: | Fire, Electric |
Resistances: | Grass (1/4x), Bug (1/4x), Normal, Steel, Flying, Dragon, Fairy, Psychic |
Immunities: | Poison, Ground |
