Evil Dead: The Game Faces Digital Delisting
In a significant move for fans of horror gaming, Evil Dead: The Game is being removed from major digital platforms, a decision confirmed by its publisher, Saber Interactive, on their Steam page. This announcement follows players’ alerts on Reddit, who noticed its removal from both the Epic Games Store and the PlayStation Store earlier this week.
Subsequently, Saber Interactive proceeded to delist the game from Steam and the Xbox Store, where it had remained available for a brief period.“We can confirm we’ve begun the process of removing the game from digital storefronts, ”the statement from Saber read.
Continuation for Existing Players
In a reassuring note to the community, Saber emphasized that players who have already purchased the title will still have access to it, as plans are in place to keep the game servers operational.“We want to extend a sincere thank you to our community, to those who have been part of the game from the very beginning, and those who have recently joined us. We appreciate all of your support, ”the company stated.
Development Status of Evil Dead: The Game
Notably, Boss Team Games, the developer behind Evil Dead: The Game, ceased new content development in 2023 and has also canceled the previously anticipated Nintendo Switch version. This delisting, therefore, marks a troubling trend frequently witnessed among online-only games that lack an offline mode.
Future Outlook
Looking ahead, there’s hope that by the time the servers eventually go offline, both Saber and Boss Team Games will have devised an offline mode, allowing players who own the game to carry on in some capacity. While no specific timeline has been disclosed for the server shutdown, given the game’s current delisting across major platforms, it seems unlikely the servers will remain operational beyond the end of this year.
For avid fans and horror game enthusiasts, keeping an eye on further developments will be essential as the gaming landscape evolves.
