Everything You Need to Know About the Minecraft Winter Drop Update
Minecraft is set to introduce exciting new features aimed at enhancing the gameplay experience. During Minecraft Live, the developers announced the upcoming Winter Drop update along with exciting Bravery bundles. However, the community was primarily buzzing about the soon-to-be-released features. In this article, we will delve into the details of this upcoming update and, more importantly, provide insights on when players can anticipate its arrival in the game.
What is the Winter Drop Update for Minecraft?
Mojang Studios has revamped its update delivery system. Rather than releasing a single major update each year, the developers will now introduce smaller updates more frequently. The Winter Drop will be an integral part of this new update structure.
During the Minecraft Live event, Mojang Studios showcased everything that the Winter Drop will encompass. Although the primary focus was on the upcoming Bundles of Bravery update, the highlights from the Winter Drop captured the audience’s attention.
One of the notable features in this drop is a new hostile mob known as the Creaking, which can only be encountered in a newly introduced biome called the Pale Garden. This biome will also introduce a new tree and wood type called pale oak. The pale oak wood functions similarly to existing wood types for construction purposes.
The pale oak wood has a unique capability: it can be utilized to activate a new item called the Creaking Heart, which is the source of the Creaking mob. This particular hostile entity cannot be damaged directly as it is merely a projection of the heart. To eliminate the mob, players must locate and destroy the Creaking Heart.
Players can break the Creaking Heart with a tool that has the Silk Touch enchantment. Once collected, players can position it between two aligned pale oak wood blocks, causing it to emit an orange glow. The Creaking will spawn at nightfall if placed correctly.
In addition to these features, the Winter Drop will also introduce Pale Hanging Moss, which can be crafted into moss carpets and moss blocks, among other things.
When Can We Expect the Winter Drop Update?
While the developers have yet to announce an official release date for the Winter Drop, Mojang Studios has made available the 24w40a snapshot, which incorporates all these experimental features. Additionally, in an official survey regarding the Minecraft Live event, the Winter Drop was referred to as the “Vanilla Holiday Update,” suggesting a release timeframe around Christmas this year.
The Bundles of Bravery update introduced the highly anticipated bundles, as well as the much-requested Hardcore Mode for the Bedrock Edition. Hardcore Mode had been absent from this edition for over a decade, indicating that Mojang Studios is focused on improving both game versions.
