Everything We Know So Far About Netflix’s The Amazing Digital Circus

The Amazing Digital Circus is a dark comedy animated series set to debut on Netflix on October 4, 2024. Initially launched as a web series, it was created by animator and composer Gooseworx and produced by Glitch Productions, first premiering on YouTube on October 14, 2023.

While the pilot and the second episode have already aired on YouTube, episodes three through nine are scheduled to release simultaneously on both YouTube and Netflix.

Since its YouTube release, The Amazing Digital Circus has garnered a significant fanbase. A November 9, 2023, article on Forbes highlighted how content creators have leveraged the show’s popularity to boost their own visibility.

The Amazing Digital Circus Initial Airing on YouTube

The first two episodes of The Amazing Digital Circus were available on YouTube in October 2023 and May 2024. The producer, Glitch Productions, boasts a robust presence on the platform, racking up over 1.1 billion total views since their uploads began in January 2018.

In addition to The Amazing Digital Circus, Glitch Productions is also known for the animated series Murder Drones, which premiered on October 30, 2021. This series focuses on “cute little robots who murder each other for unknown reasons.” Liam Vickers created Murder Drones, with Kevin and Luke Lerdwichagul as producers.

Other popular series under the Glitch Productions label include Meta Runner, which first aired in July 2019 on the SMG4 channel before moving to the Glitch Productions channel for its second season, and Sunset Paradise, which launched in March 2021.

The Amazing Digital Circus revolves around a group of five individuals who become trapped in a virtual realm where they must navigate the whims of an unpredictable artificial intelligence that turns their lives upside down.

Key Cast Members

  • Lizzie Freeman voices Pomni, the protagonist and the latest person ensnared in the digital circus, appearing as a jester. Freeman is recognized for her roles in Rent A Girlfriend, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, and Persona 3: Reload – Episode Aigis.
  • Alex Rochon portrays Caine, the circus ringmaster and immensely unpredictable AI, characterized as having a toothy grin instead of a head. According to series creator Gooseworx, Caine draws inspiration from AM in the short story I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream.
  • Michael Kovach voices Jax, a mischievous prankster who enjoys toying with the others in the circus; his avatar is a purple humanoid rabbit.
  • Amanda Hufford brings to life Ragatha, who appears as a rag doll avatar, striving to maintain a positive outlook.
  • Marissa Lenti voices Gaggle, depicted with a ribbon avatar and using a mask of comedy and tragedy to express her feelings based on the situation.
  • Sean Chiplock plays Kinger, a man who has been trapped in the digital circus longer than the others, leading to his growing paranoia; his avatar resembles a king chess piece.
  • Ashley Nichols portrays Zoobie, an antisocial character who finds it hard to get along with others; represented by a set of mismatched blocks.
