Microsoft has officially announced the second wave of titles coming to the Xbox Game Pass for January 2025. This newly unveiled selection includes eight new games and five additional titles set to enhance the Standard-tier library.
Since the summer of 2024, Xbox Game Pass has faced a challenging trend, frequently removing more games than it has added each month. The last positive tally occurred in July 2024, when the service welcomed 12 new games while parting ways with nine.
This downward trend is set to change with January 2025’s impressive lineup. With eight new titles joining the platform, the total number of releases for this month will rise to 12, aligning with the games scheduled to leave. The lineup includes Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, which is making its debut on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on January 21, alongside titles such as Gigantic: Rampage Edition, Starbound, Eternal Strands, Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap, Shady Part of Me, Sniper Elite: Resistance, and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector.

Xbox Game Pass Standard Gains Five New Titles in January 2025
The latest announcement also highlights the addition of five games to the Xbox Game Pass Standard library: Flock, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, Magical Delicacy, Tchia, and The Case of the Golden Idol. Originally released for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in July 2024, these titles will be available in the Standard tier starting January 22.
Looking ahead, January also sees the upcoming arrival of Far Cry New Dawn, which is expected to be included on February 4. This title marks the third installment from Ubisoft’s renowned franchise to join Xbox Game Pass, following Far Cry 5 and Far Cry 6, added in July 2022 and December 2023, respectively. Given the popularity of its predecessors, it’s likely that Far Cry New Dawn will also enjoy a lengthy shelf life on the service.
In alignment with this month’s updates, Microsoft has confirmed that six titles will be leaving Xbox Game Pass on January 31, including Anuchard, Broforce, Darkest Dungeon, Death’s Door, Maquette, and Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem. Users should mark their calendars; the first wave of selections for February’s Xbox Game Pass lineup is anticipated to be disclosed early next month, probably around February 4. Meanwhile, the next Xbox Developer Direct is set to provide fresh Xbox Game Pass-related insights on January 23.
