Tiffany Red Reflects on Cassie Ventura’s Troubling Relationship with Diddy

In a poignant discussion aired on ABC’s Secret Life of Diddy — A Special Edition of 20/20, Tiffany Red unveiled some disturbing facts regarding Diddy and Cassie Ventura’s tumultuous relationship. The songwriter noted a pivotal moment in 2015 that led her to believe something was indeed “off”with their dynamic.

On that fateful night, Tiffany overheard Sean Combs—who is also known as Puff Daddy—screaming at Cassie while she had him on speakerphone. Combs questioned her about the presence of someone else in her vehicle and seemed to connect it with suspicion about her loyalty. She recalled thinking:

“That was the first time I was like, ‘Something is wrong.’”

In August of the same year, Tiffany witnessed another distressing episode during Cassie’s 29th birthday celebration. According to her, Diddy and his security team confronted Cassie in a room, aggressively yelling at her. Tiffany recalled the scene vividly:

“He was extremely angry, practically breathing down her neck, and she just looked down in silence.”

Tiffany described Cassie as a gentle and innocent person who first gained fame through her association with Diddy. She recounted her own feelings of unease around the hip-hop mogul and how he seemed to avoid her presence. Red revealed that he once interrogated her:

“You’re the one writing all these songs about me?”

Last December, Tiffany spoke candidly about her experiences involving Cassie and Diddy shortly after Cassie’s explosive lawsuit against Combs, marking only the beginning of a series of legal actions. Just a day after filing, the couple reportedly settled the suit privately for an undisclosed amount.

During her appearance on NBC’s Top Story with Tom Llamas in December 2023, Tiffany articulated that the lawsuit aimed at ensuring “accountability and a reckoning.”She elaborated on the tense 2015 speakerphone incident, detailing:

“I recall him bombarding her with calls while I was in the car… when she finally picked up, it was on speaker, and that was the first time I heard him explode in anger.”

She continued:

“He was like, ‘Bitch, what are you doing?’ and she kept hanging up because of his yelling, and he’d shout back, ‘Don’t you dare hang up on me!’ and threatened to take away her car.”

Tiffany shared with NBC unsettling accounts of Diddy’s alleged coercive behavior towards Cassie, claiming he would employ sex workers and compel Cassie to have relations with them, dictating her actions. Red noted that Cassie often expressed her reluctance, insisting she wasn’t feeling well.

On Cassie’s 29th birthday, Tiffany indicated that Diddy’s fury erupted when Cassie refused to participate in such arrangements. Red also highlighted that Cassie mentioned Diddy only focused on her music when they were involved in these troubling encounters. She remarked:

“It’s disgusting to think that I spent years writing songs only for them to be used in such a terrible way against my friend.”

Additionally, Tiffany remembered Cassie confiding that she had sustained a black eye inflicted by Diddy shortly before the release of her film The Perfect Match in 2016.

Throughout her career, Tiffany Red has penned numerous songs for Cassie Ventura, including “Joint (No Sleep)”from 2016 and “Simple Things”from 2019. Her impressive portfolio also features collaborations with stars like Jennifer Hudson and Zendaya.
