Evelyn serves as a primary damage dealer (DPS) within the Fire Attack category in Zenless Zone Zero. As a key member of the Stars of Lyra faction, alongside Astra Yao, her effectiveness transcends mere faction representation. Her ability set centers around the Binding Seal state, which she achieves by binding enemies; this grants her enhanced damage output along with buffs through her core skill.
What sets Evelyn apart is the straightforward nature of her kit. She doesn’t rely heavily on specific character synergies to excel, allowing players to adopt a versatile setup featuring Attack, Stun, and Support roles effectively. Her skills offer bonuses when paired with Stun or Support characters, making her a flexible addition to various team compositions.
Optimal Team Composition: Evelyn + Lighter + Astra Yao
Best Generalist Team Composition for Evelyn

Astra Yao stands out as one of the premier support units in the game, providing essential buffs like ATK and DMG, alongside the exceptional capability to heal through her Ultimate. This support functionality was previously limited to specific characters such as certain Bangboo. Consequently, integrating Astra into Evelyn’s team not only elevates her performance but also maximizes her Chain Attack frequency thanks to Astra’s Quick Assist.
Lighter complements this setup as an optimal Stun character, necessitating minimal field time for seamless synergy with Astra’s skills. While Lighter’s buffs cater primarily to Fire and Ice characters, Evelyn—a Fire DPS—will promptly benefit from the enhancements of Fire DMG and Fire RES reduction provided by Lighter. Generally, players will only need to switch Evelyn out to replenish her Morale and to activate Lighter’s front-loaded Daze during critical moments.
This team composition is user-friendly, entailing low timing complexities and is perfect for players who prefer minimal swaps during gameplay. However, should players lack access to Lighter, alternative options like Koleda provide a viable non-limited Stun choice. If the team has another Stun character readily available, substituting Caesar for Astra can also strengthen the team, particularly in challenging scenarios requiring more defensive capability.
Alternate Composition: Evelyn + Burnice + Lucy
Mono-Fire Team Composition for Evelyn

For players focused on achieving a high Crit Rate of over 80% and maximizing damage output, pairing Evelyn with Burnice and Lucy is advantageous. This combination utilizes a 4-piece Inferno Metal set along with a 2-piece Woodpecker Electro setup to ensure consistent Fire Anomaly build-up. Evelyn significantly increases her damage when enemies are affected by Burn, especially in conjunction with the 4-piece Inferno Metal set.
This composition draws parallels to Soldier 11’s Mono-Fire Team, as both Burnice and Evelyn deliver long-lasting Burn effects. Burnice’s ability to apply Fire Anomaly off-field allows Evelyn to maintain an extended presence without interruption, thanks to the replenishing of Burnice’s Heat bar. For players with Burnice already in their roster, this setup provides a robust framework for maximizing Evelyn’s potential in specific scenarios.
As Burnice encapsulates the Anomaly character role, the final team slot should be filled by either a Stun or Support character, with Lucy fitting the bill seamlessly. While her ATK buff may be less potent than Astra Yao’s, her flexibility makes her an excellent choice, even with more frequent swaps required. Lucy’s pets contribute to Fire Anomaly build-up and provide minor damage and Daze effects, enhancing team dynamics.
Unlike previous compositions, substituting core members in this setup is limited. In particular, Burnice is indispensable for this team to function effectively as a focused damage output generator within a mono-fire context.
Effective F2P Composition: Evelyn + Anby + Nicole
Best Free-to-Play Team Composition for Evelyn

Players opting for a strictly free-to-play (F2P) team can effectively pair Evelyn with Anby and Nicole. Although Anby may not provide the extensive Stun or team synergy seen with characters like Lighter, she is the only freely obtainable 4-star Stun character. When properly utilized, Anby can still deliver considerable Daze capabilities to bolster Evelyn’s performance.
Nicole serves as an ideal Support character, applying DEF Shred debuffs that heighten Evelyn’s damage output. While her integration necessitates frequent swaps and a more timing-sensitive approach, players who thrive on fast-paced gameplay will find this setup rewarding. Moreover, the interaction between Anby and Nicole can optimize their respective abilities, although Evelyn will not directly benefit from Nicole’s Ether buff.
Should players have Soukaku available, she can replace Nicole effectively within this team, although both Anby and Soukaku will lose the Additional Ability bonuses. Soukaku compensates by providing a robust ATK buff with extended duration, making her dependably advantageous for general setups even if her buffs are targeted primarily at Ice characters. Thus, players preferring a simpler support option may find Soukaku a fitting alternative.
