Eternal Strands is an upcoming fantasy game from former BioWare and Ubisoft team members

In 2020, the game studio Yellow Brick Games was launched and has now officially revealed its first title, Eternal Strands. This upcoming game will be an action-adventure with graphics powered by Unreal Engine 5.

According to Yellow Brick Games, Eternal Strands can be described as the following:

In this 3rd person action-adventure game, you play as Brynn, a young and fearless Weaver, determined to recover her people’s cultural home by uncovering the mysteries of the Enclave, a once powerful nation that now lies dormant. Fight epic, 25-meters-high climbable creatures – the Arks, while blending magical abilities with an arsenal of powerful weapons to keep the world from crumbling. Use the environment and extreme weather events to your advantage in battles against a big roster of fantastical creatures.

The press release also stated that the game’s “physics-based systems with engaging action-combat”will allow players to utilize the game world as a weapon.

Today, a new teaser trailer was also released for the game, which contains elements reminiscent of Shadow of the Colossus, pleasing fans of those highly-praised games.

Yellow Brick Games, headquartered in Canada, has two offices located in Quebec City and Montreal. The company was established by a group of ex-employees from BioWare and Ubisoft. One of the most renowned members of the team is Mike Laidlaw, who served as the creative director for BioWare’s Dragon Age series. Laidlaw currently holds the position of Chief Creative Officer at Yellow Brick Games.

Laidlaw, also quoted in the press release, adds:

Our hope with Eternal Strands is to deliver an adventure that brings a sense of fun and excitement to fantasy, while encouraging players to experiment with its systems. It’s a very different game to ones I’ve worked on in the past, and it’s been a delight to generally answer the question ‘what if the player does X?’ with ‘Cool!’. It’s also exciting to have a chance to build an all-new world that encourages and reacts to this kind of play.

Eternal Strands is set to launch in 2025 on Steam for PC, as well as on Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and S consoles. Although Yellow Brick Games had previously entered into a publishing agreement with Take-Two Interactive’s Private Division, the developer has since opted to self-publish its debut game.
